So, my last attempt at making a Mission report ended up in disaster because Kerbalism broke somehow, I hope it doesn't end up the same here. I guess I'll do a spacerace.

Post in which I restart from zero

Chapter 1:Dead of a Kerbal

screenshot1.png

Nothing to see here, just a random teleporting object that requires construction.

screenshot2.png

Wernher von Kerman had said this advanced sounding rocket could help the Kerbal Exploratory Committee in gaining enough data to get better technology for building better crafts. Maybe this could be the future key to getting the actual first Launch Vehicle for the KEC

screenshot3.png

screenshot5.png

screenshot6.png

screenshot8.png

screenshot9.png

And... touchdown, now all it has to do is wait for recovery team to arrive and pick up the sounding rocket for examination

screenshot11.png

The sounding rocket SRB Stage failing was annoying, since KEC was attempting at reaching the Upper Atmosphere for a second time, this time for more funding

screenshot13.png

"I repeat, we breached the 20 Kilometers, I repeat.." one of the people at mission control was saying when they noticed that the sounding rocket had reached the 20 Kilometers mark and gone above it. As Scientific experiments were immediately activated to gain extra data that could be useful.

screenshot18.png

Today might be the first time in Kerbalkind in which a Kerbal will break the speed of sound. Jeb seems quite excited tonight to fly on the Kontrol-1. Mission control would do the usual checks that they would do with planes, from checking the signal to checking the engine and more.

screenshot20.png

screenshot22.png

One of the landing gear would've started failing, as it wouldn't retract, this might'be dangerous, so Mission Control might ask Jeb to drop from the craft as soon as he completes the mission... only one problem, there wasn't any EVA training, which meant Jeb would've needed to land

screenshot23.png

screenshot24.png

As soon as Jeb would exit the Supersonic regime, one of the Juno engine started malfuctioning, this could be a problem, so Jeb had to land as soon as possible... then, an another landing gear would fail.

screenshot26.png

That day... would be the last day for Jeb. His funeral would be attended by members of Jeb's Junkyard, it was a sad time for the first fatality of the Kerbal Exploratory Comittee

Chapter 2:Testing, Orbit, and Polar

Today, the Kerbal Exploratory Committee is testing out their first launch vehicle, the Chester-1, it will bring multiple scientific experiments to a 120 kilometers by 110 kilometers orbit of Kerbin. Right now it is in the phase of testing the LV-T45 "Swivel" Engine on a test stand

screenshot40.png

Its use is for launching payloads of up to 0.3+ Tons into space.

screenshot41.png

It was time to see if the Chester-1 could launch the First Kerbin Satellite. As Mission control proceeded to do the nightly checks on it, it seems like everything was in order so far.

screenshot42.png

screenshot43.png

screenshot44.png

Gene was so far happy that the Chester-1 Launch vehicle, which was personally designed by Wernher von Kerman was so far flying toward orbit. Meanwhile, Wernher is so far excited at the fact that the KEC could research more about space
screenshot45.png

Stage sep had begun, This might've been on the greatest achievements of Kerbalkind at the moment, maybe at some point, they could even land on Minmus. Soon, the craft would reach the target orbit, it was time to wait for sunlight to start the scientific experiments.

screenshot47.png

Some more Scientific experiments later...
screenshot48.png
Launch of the First Polar Satellite of Kerbin! Bringing in some more Scientific goodies, this is for fulfilling a contract, but the Science goodies are for the KEC

screenshot50.png

screenshot51.png
The first failure of a Chester-1 Launch Vehicle, one of the fuel tanks seems to have started leaking fuel. Gene would remember that the last time which there was a part failure ended up with the death of Jebediah Kerman, luckily no crew was crew on it

screenshot52.png
The second stage would've fired earlier than it was supposed to be, this was an annoyance at the least. And it was noticeable that the craft had lost its solar panels
screenshot53.png
Still, they had achieved the first Polar Satellite of Kerbin.

Chapter 3:The Many attempts at Minmus
The Kerbal Exploratory Committee has attempted many times at a Minmus flyby, only being successful once, and that was without any science being done. Here we can see a few pictures of the ones that failed to the disappointment of Gene and Wernher

Metallum 1.
screenshot69.png
Failed due to not having gimballing.

Metallum 2.
screenshot76.png
Failed due to connection loss at Minmus, but had done the flyby successfully... just without science

Metallum 3.
screenshot78.png
Accidental reentry

screenshot80.png

"I sure hope this time we will get the data, Gene" Wernher would look at the rocket as he hoped that it would bring the data required to farther develop the Space Agency. If they did, maybe at some point they could pressurize those darn crewed modules.

"Yeah, let's hope so Wernher" Gene had his hands behind his back as he looked at the rocket, in a hour and 5 minutes he would've to get back to Mission Control, but so far he was enjoying the view of launchpad.

The rocket was standing tall, as its system waited for the order to ignite the first stage engine, this would begin the liftoff from the rocket pad. Only a few minutes remaining until the launch would begin. Soon, countdown would begin as Gene sat on his chair next to his computer alongside many other Kerbals. Liftoff would begin shortly after.

screenshot81.png
Gus Kerman would look at the video feed in Mission Control as he pondered about when it will be the moment to launch the first Kerbal into space, he surely didn't want the Chippers United Republics which was funding the Kerbal Exploratory Committee to lose one of the goals it had.

As the Rocket was at 2.7 kilometers in the air, one of the tiny reaction wheels on the payload would've suffered a failure, this was expected due to them being a quite new type of way to orientate the spacecraft without changing the orbit, 3 reaction wheels still remained.

unknown.png

screenshot84.png
The payload had been deployed as the craft was now in a orbit of 190 kilometers by 180 kilometers, preparation for the Minmus injection was gonna begin soon, as checks were made for the injection burn to confirm it wouldn't reenter Kerbin's atmosphere on accident.

Ignition of the JA10-118-X12 would begin, now all they had to do was wait.
screenshot85.png
The payload had been deployed as the craft was now in a orbit of 190 kilometers by 180 kilometers, preparation for the Minmus injection was gonna begin soon, but in the end, Metallum 4 would end up failing, just like its brothers. At least they had Metallum 5 that they could rely on once it was build.

unknown.png

screenshot88.png
Metallum 5 would do what the other Metallum probes couldn't send data back to Kerbin, this was an achievement for the KEC. Wernher was surely gonna like this.

Meanwhile, in a different space Agency

Chapter 4:New Agency, New Rockets
From the Island of Baikerbanur, a new space agency was born: The Praen Crijan Kommissariat for Space(PCKS). They had just recently discovered how to make rockets due to the help from a spy  a friend from the Kerbal Exploratory Committee. Their plans were simple, one-up the KEC by being the first at a Keostationary orbit Satellite. That was surely gonna be diffucult due to the position of their launchsite, but anyways, Komrade Mitlan Kerman didn't want this to fail... if they did fail, he would send some of the engineers to a special winter vacation

screenshot104.png
The Tri-Angle Launch vehicle (jokingly refered to as the Triangle rocket) is gonna transport the Mitlan Satellite up to an orbit of 8968 kilometers by 8968 kilometers, the engineers surely hope this does not fail at all.

screenshot106.png
screenshot107.png

screenshot107.png

screenshot108.png
The mission was proving to be of great success so far, the Mission control at Baikerbanur was gonna enjoy surviving the winter vacation. As the second stage separated from the first, cheers would come from the interns that were watching it from video feed.

Meanwhile, at the Kerbal Space Center, the Kerbal Exploratory Committee was surprised at the fact that some of their radar sensors had noticed a launch that wasn't from the KSC. Some of the staff wondered if it was a ballistic missile from the Praen Crijan Kommissariat, or something else, from the trajectory, it didn't seem like it.

Gene would remember a picture that the secret services from the Chippers United Republics was given to the staff about an unidentified craft.

The picture was honestly quite blurry, but Gene is starting to believe that Praen Crijan Kommissariat is gonna launch their own Satellite.

screenshot110.png

screenshot116.png
The last burn to get into the required periapsis before the inclination change

screenshot118.png
One of the last manuevers, the inclination change was gonna put the craft at a mostly 0 degrees inclination, the Baikerbanur Mission control rejoiced as they were sure they would not be sent away. In the end the Mission was a success, as the Praen Crijan Kommissariat sent journals across the world about their achievement of the first Keostationary Satellite, cementing themselves as a new space agency.

Chapter 5: Minmus Sat and Testing for Crew

Today at the KSC, Gene, alongside the other members of the KSC were feasting at what they've done. Their space program was the first at orbiting a Satellite on Minmus, and Jeb had been cloned. This was great news for the Kerbal Exploratory Committee. They had become one of the top space agencies around Kerbin in both reputation and technological prowess. If only they could get their hands on that Praen Crijan Aerospike engine that they had so been boosting about with their Keostationary launch vehicle.

screenshot149.png
First Minmus, then The Mun

Meanwhile, at the Astronaut centre, Jeb was still trying to habituate to being cloned. It was a weird feeling, especially after that aeroplane accident, but he was sure they probably needed him for something. As Jeb heard a door opening, staring at it from the couch he sat. He noticed Wernher Von Kerman, Jeb though that he wanted to ask him something by the look on his face.

"Jebadiah, you have been chosen to be one of two Kerbals to first reach space. You will have to meet with Scientist Bob Kerman for your first flight in possibly a few months from now" Wernher seemed to both like this idea and dislike it at the same time. After all, the loss of Jeb back then was horrible, and if the KEC loses both Jeb and Bob in space, it might means they will not be able to bring them back. Curse that darn Mk-1 Command pod being unpressurized, at least they had a bunch of Launch escape systems they could use.

"Understood, Wernher" Jeb would say as he observed Wernher leaving.

"Remember, no shenanigans" Wernher spoke, before departing from the room

screenshot158.png

One of the first testings of the Kirk Spacecraft, it uses the Cerberus LKO Launch Vehicle variant, if this worked, then maybe it could pass toward Crew-rating

screenshot159.png

It was going quite good, the Rocket had lifted from the ground, and Walt Kerman had noticed the so-called Paranormal activities near the KSC. Heck, he was even putting this on International TV both for spiting rival agencies and for aspiring new Kerbonauts... Only one problem, the rocket didn't pitch down Might need to rebuild the darn thing  It seemed pitch program malfunctioned, this could be embarrassing, especially for Walt, but Gene wondered if they could still salvage the test.

screenshot162.png

screenshot163.png

And Orbit! Now it was only time to figure out how to bring this craft down.

screenshot164.png

After a little bit of time, Gene had given the order for reentry and decoupling of the second stage. It was now time to wait until they could decouple the service module

screenshot166.png

At T-2 Minutes and 15 seconds, the Capsule decouples from the Service module, as it now position itself for reentry

screenshot167.png
Steady... Steady.

screenshot168.png

The Capsule has landed, now it was time to recover it. According to data, there were a bunch of failures when it parachuted down, luckily the capsule wasn't lost. But I'm pretty much starting to get annoyed at this due to mechjeb and the BDB Leo/Gemini not working. So I'm just gonna reset the entire thing and update to 1.9.1 and get an another tech tree
