Does KSP really have spyware in it?

Dude, just no. Don't go there.

  1. It actively detracts from the credibility your argument (which I strongly agree with).
  2. It is speculation-based, and not fact-based. This is KSP--We do things the right way.

What was he saying I don't get the saying.

Tell me, how do you expect them to get any of that data unless you give it to them? Dunno about you but I'm not in the habit of storing my gender, date of birth and zip code on my computer.

As for hardware configuration, console ID, software purchases and IP address - pretty much everything (including your browser) that connects to the internet provides that information (except the software purchases... but thats probably if you use Rockstar Social or something)

BANKING INFORMATION REQUIRES IT!

It even requires your social security number

You think a company who writes that EULA wouldn't put shills in the forums?

This WAS KSP.  We USED TO do things the right way.

That's why I'm so angry.

You've lost me. You are handing that information over if you give them your bank details for purchases etc. You have to give them (and anyone else you buy from) that information to complete the purchase.

So your issue is that they put in the T&Cs that they collect that info? If they didn't mention it you'd just hand the data over willingly? (and BTW, they have to tell you they are collecting it, due to Data Protetion reasons)

I see several problems in this thread. There's a lot of speculation. A lot of fear mongering. I have yet to read anywhere where it says T2 will sell your information to third parties. Just that it will collect the data sent and use it in response to requests that you make. And if you do something illegal, you forfeit your privacy. I could've glossed over something, though.

There seems to be a lot of posts from a small number of people. This, in itself, is not a problem, but those that are freaking out wanting T2 to do something about it are not really achieving the effect of "representing" the majority of players.

Occam's Razor is the first principle by which you should judge an idea. Lots of people are privacy-insensitive. Wrongly, I think. We know that at least one of the posters is just a normal dude, and I happen to disagree with him on this issue, but I will happily continue to donate to his Patreon.

KSP management has done several things the wrong way, for YEARS--I'd classify this as only the THIRD most significant ETHICAL snafu in my memory.

Most importantly, conspiracy theory will get the thread locked.

Take Two can access your banking information... Banking information contains your social security number. Take Two can also access emails, zip codes, and such. Take two has the ABILITY to find me if I'm online send a representative to me and address me with my full name if they wanted to. That is too much

I think Occam would agree that if they change a EULA to include their right to access my personal information,  its because they plan to take it.

That is the simplest explanation.

Since when has TakeTwo become the evil overlords from the dark realm?

Christ people.  Calm the hell down and wait for an official comment.

Then you may panic.

You do have a point the old EULA I THINK was sufficient for improving the game.

Or, even simpler,  maybe to make the EULA in line with all their other EULAs

I'm  not sure, I only read that EULA Monday, so before then.

We have their official comment -- ITS THE EULA.

And this isn't panic. Its a calm, well thought out , very angry boycott.

What exactly are you boycotting and why? In detail please.

This firewall also does inline decryption of traffic to and from the network ... You want to know what else it discovered, it failed to decrypt these connections, so it isn't just speaking HTTPS but instead something else over TCP 443 ... Question is what is it sending and why is it encrypted?

@Darth Badie, care to comment?

I ll comment: You are terrible at intercepting HTTPS traffic and you clearly don't know much about how this works.

So @Sarbian, That's no name, nor address, nor any personal info at all, beyond OS it seems....  Just the fact the game is running, and on what platform?

Am I correct there?

That's pretty much it, plus a few broad things about the system running it, like operating system

Yep. And I guess there is an event for some scene change or specific events.  I won't look into more since I have better things to do.

Okay, if that's all it's sending... I can relax now. :)

As far as I can tell, it's sending performance and OS data to unity and the OS and if the game is modded to Redshell.

Quite honestly this is computer jargon I don't understand. What is that?

What does this have to do with HTTPS and translation

The "words" on the left of the coloumns are the variable names, the values on the right are their, well values.

Does ANY of it look like personal info at all to you?  It's written out in English.
