Probe control lost 7km from visual bounce

Recommended Posts

Here I have proble (I already use some of them without this trouble), and it has 4 antena and mothership on visual contact wtih bouncing signal. There is power too:

Then few second later I still have visual and power but the control is lost. And there is a lot of signal bouncers around Kerbin and Mun (its quite crowdy). So... Why?!

There are lot of gees in the sky!

I'm about to see this on map how it loosing control.

Does the mothership have relay-capable antennas?

Yes, combined 8G. I found that there could be hard oclousion. I delayed deployment of lander for three seconds and landed 250m away. It was 3 second signal gap causing this disaster. Just enough to reconect from one antena cluster to another.

Sounds like you have solved this already.

One tip is there is an option in Map mode to see the signal paths, the button to toggle the signal paths is near the top of the screen.

I spend a lot of time around Minmus.  Normally 3 or 4 relay (bounce) satellites in different orbits is enough to ensure signal coverage while near or on Minmus.  But a little bad luck can still leave dead spots sometimes.

Putting your relay (bounce) satellites in a high orbit increases their coverage.  I also like to put at least one of them in a polar orbit.
