That re-entry heating issue is because you put an avionics directly on top of your heat shield- heat from re-entry gets conducted from the hot heat shield to the much less heat tolerant avionics and can easily cook them, so it’ best to attach a heat shield to something more heatproof with the avionics on top of that.

I thought their may be conduction if head going on.... also thought avionics had been reasonably resilient in previous hops before having heat shields... time to go finding other materials to use (space plane tanks?)

In all honesty.... having started playing RP-0 soon after its creation,  their used to be lots of 'dont use mechjeb' due to it not playing well with limited ignition, I know thats been fixed but i guess im stuck in my ways and like learning and refining my own launch profiles, maybe in a future series i will look into that.... we will see ;-)
