All lights, at minimum, need a way to make them not turn on/off with the general 'light' command or key.  There are many specialized uses of lights and some use a lot of power and one really doesn't want them on unless specifically switched on.  Spotlights on the fore of asteroid capture craft, or on the base of a lander, etc.  Ideally, one could tie a light to an animation state of another part.  Landing lights could be tied to the extended state of landing gear, or asteroid capture spotlights could be tied to the 'armed' state of a klaw, etc.  And of course they could still be manually controlled via the PAW as normal.  I could go on: motion sensitive lights that trigger when an EVA gets within a set distance, lights in service bays that follow the state of the doors; open=on, closed=off.  I realize a lot of this stuff can be wrangled out of extended action groups, kOS, etc, but the lower-hanging fruit really should be in the stock game with no mods required
