Either I'm doing a massive dumb dumb, or this mod doesn't work out of the box.

I installed both Partly Colored Suits (1.0.2b) and TextureReplacer(v4.3.1) via CKAN... suits didn't appear, at all.

Using TextureReplacer's README, I managed to make the suits appear in the UI by moving/renaming the suits to:

GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\black\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\black\EVAtextureNRM.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\blue\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\blue\EVAtextureNRM.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\gray\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\gray\EVAtextureNRM.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\orange\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\orange\EVAtextureNRM.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\red\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\red\EVAtextureNRM.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\yellow\EVAtexture.dds
GameData\PartlyColoredSuits\TextureReplacer\Suits\yellow\EVAtextureNRM.dds

This however, just lead to well, this: (note how taking off the helmet reverts the suit back to default.)

The current version isn't for TextureReplacer

TR and stock have different texture orientations (TR is normal, stock is flipped vertically)
I'm making a TR Pack so people don't have to manually flip the textures.

Partly Colored Suits 1.0.3
(sorry, not 1.1 or 2.0 yet)

Changelog:

  • Proper specular mapping. Now it's not evenly shiny.
  • Changed license to CC-BY-NC-SA 4.0.

And now, the thing that many have requested:
Partly Colored Suits - TextureReplacer Edition 1.0.0
Yes, it's out now.

Changelog:

  • First version, so no changes to log yet.

Download links are in the OP.

Unlike the stock helmet toggle, which just removes the helmet mesh, TR's helmet toggle switches the kerbal to its IVA suit, probably because that feature was added before the stock one in 1.6 and was never really updated to just become an alternate button for the stock helmet remover (unlike KIS).

Well, since the new 'Slim' (or I call it 'Modern Future') suit from 1.12 has similar color options to PCS, I don't see the need for this mod to accommodate those suits as well.

It's probable that the KSP2 dev team's work inspired both mine and Squad's suits, which is likely why the helmet markings are in roughly the same place
