EVA Construction - connecting fuel lines between craft

Hi, I was wondering if it's possible to connect a fuel line between two spacecraft using EVA construction?

I tried this with Jeb holding a fuel line in his inventory but the part wouldn't sick when attaching to the second crest, regardless of which craft I put it on first. Does it require connecting the craft with a grabbing claw first?

Or a docking port, yes.

One alternative is the  EVA resource transfer Mod.

PS: I'm afraid it may not interact well with the inventory system, tho

However, a Jr Docking port fits in an engineers backpack.

Saved a doomed tourist craft that was out of fuel by sending up a refueller with a crafty engineer.

Thanks for all of the good suggestions - I really enjoy the stock game and its challenges but I've been eyeing off KAS for a while. 

The EVA resource transfer mod is news to me
