How do I move a craft files from one save to another?

Recommended Posts

One of my saves got corrupted a few months back which I made a post saying "Value cannot be null", I haven't been able to get the file un-corrupted though so I want to try and take the saves from the VAB and SPH to my new version of that save. However I don't know how to do that, I think if I move the ships file from the save to the other it may work but I want to be sure thats how you do it. The corrupted save has  bunch of valuable builds I made and I really don't want to lose them.

Hmmm... so your crafts are maybe still intact.

Try to go to your KSP directory, then you'll see several folders such as GameData, Parts, etc.

Go to "Ships" > VAB (or SPH if the craft is on the SPH)
All your crafts will be on the folder of the VAB or the SPH.
Cut it to a random place AWAY FROM THE KSP DIRECTORY
Then remove the corrupt saves from the "saves" folder in the KSP directory too.
Paste the craft files again.

Tell me if this works, because I never had any experience with corrupt saves.

It’ actually really easy to do this:

  1. Open up the KSP directory in the file browser of your choice/OS;
  2. Go into saves/your-old-save-name and copy the Ships folder, it should contain VAB, SPH and subassemblies folders inside it;
  3. Paste that Ships folder into saves/your-new-save-game and merge the folders.
