Multi point connections

Recommended Posts

I've been away for a while but recently sunk a few hours into KSP.  Well, a lot of hours as I use KCT which really slows progress.

I was pleased to find multi-coupling seemed to be fixed as I have low tech.  I put a tri-coupler under a Mk I pod, then three crew modules, three heatshields and then three separators, and another tri-coupler to stack fuel and engines under.

It all seemed to work in the editor but as soon as I trigger the separators there are various collisions and explosions.  The crew module survives so I've used it twice now but it would be nice to know if I'm doing something wrong or if multi-point separation is still not a thing.

It flies quite well for getting 5 or 6 tourists up, and recovering crew from the LKO station but the explosions seem to upset the passengers...

Nope, still not a thing.

I think there is just enough overlap of of the seps that once they detach they collide with each other with the usual spectacular results.

Why are you blowing off the lower tri-coupler?

Ah there is a slight overlap now you mention it.  But I think the log said a detacher collided with a pod.  The lower tri has to go because each passenger module has a heatshield.  I was amazed that worked but the top section lands nicely.

It returned two kerbals from Mun with enough science to unlock three more nodes so the next mission will be more advanced!
