55 minutes in the worst plane ever

So, in my no-revert career, I found myself in the position of having just four thousand kerbucks left a full slate of contracts. The only contract I could hope to complete was the one to investigate the crashed vessel in the arctic (from Anomaly Surveyor) and so I built a tiny plane to take me to the north pole. But, I made a couple of design errors, and the plane could barely stay aloft. Knowing that I couldn't afford to abort the mission, I toughed it out, and this is the result.

my current laythe plane, which i failed to test before using, basically can't take off. it reaches 40 m/s on the ground, and it can barely turn up in the air. but it loses speed in doing so, and it cannot sustain flight at less than 60 m/s. basically, i can take long jumps, but to actually fly i must launch from the top of a mountain.

it also doesn't have enough energy to sustain its science experiments.
