A mod request

Hello all, I had a mod idea which I would love to see made.

Many people use this mod:

 

I was wondering if it is possible to create a toolbar, which lets you edit the values of _Metal and _Smoothness from the cfg in the vab itself, so that you could change the shininess and metallic texture in your own way. I personally would love this feature.

And which ways/tools/guides would you recommend me, to learn how to make mods? I personally know a bit of python, but can python help in making mods? On the web, all the modding tutorials are using C#...
