[1.12] [Kopernicus] Minor Planets Expansion Revived (1.3.0)

Hello. This is the page where I will be developing my own form of the Minor Planets Expansion for Outer Planets Mod, whose development was abandoned by Exo's Lab as she went on to make other mods. The old thread can be found here.

With her blessing, I will be adding a couple of new worlds to this roster with hand-painted textures, complete biomes, and even science definitions.

Here's the list of worlds that can be visited. New worlds are italicized.

    • Kal (ring moonlet)
    • Ki'ki (contact binary a la Kleopatra)
  • Mracksis (like any red KBO [e.g. Makemake, Gonggong, Quaoar, etc.])
    • Flake (teeny white moon, like Styx)
  • Ervo (like Eris)

The mod can be downloaded here on SpaceDock, and can also be accessed via CKAN. Has MIT licensing. This is version 1.3.0. Report any other bugs on GitHub.

Like all other planet mods, this mod requires Kopernicus and ModuleManager (bundled). OPM is recommended for best play experience. Default science defs make reference to Sarnus, Urlum, and Neidon. Too Many Orbits is recommended in case the map view gets too crowded for play.

For 1.3.1:

  • Revamped Eurbon to be more geographically interesting
  • New biomes and science defs for Eurbon
  • Contrast increase on Palloomus
  • New normals for Edas and Mracksis

NEW IN 1.3.0 (Diamonds in the Sky)

  • Added Euribanne and Eurbon (L4 trojans) and Palloocus and Palloomus (L5 trojans)
  • Completely reworked Doppler
  • Fixed biome maps for all bodies (especially Ki'Ki)
  • Fixed Vant crusty PQS glitch
  • Added/fixed some science defs

Ithink it kinda works with DMagic orbital science? I have -on Exo's version- a probe around Ervo loaded with al kinds experiments, stock and DM, and I think they all work. Will have to doublecheck that.

AFAIK, she never actually wrote any patches for DMagic Orbital Science. I will try to make sure all the science experiments are taken care of with DMagic, although there are a ton of them.

So I just checked really quickly. I am in low orbit around Ervo, and I can get low orbit science from DMagic's experiments, like the telescope, magnetometer, micro goo, radio and plasma wave, ...

Weird. 

haven't really checked biomespecific science though...

Admittedly, yes, it does have science definitions, but most of the time it resorts to a couple of defaults. I think I will need to try to write some custom science definitions. Those will likely come in version 1.2, hopefully.

@Interplanet Janethello again, I just have a suggestion for the future versions of this magnificent mod.

1. Textures: hopefully some will be a bit more clearer (not like Parallax, that might just be impossible :sticktongue:)
2. Interesting science definitions: I just see some mods with a plain message on the science transmission. I don't like that. I like to give myself some fun... with science! And support with other mods (I know that already since I read forums) is magnificent!
3. Moaaaaaar stuff: I mean, Havous is my favorite, Soden is already featured in my video (check it out on my channel), Ervo (is this w/ the atmosphere) is used and seen multiple times in my A Golden Decade video. Make stuff more interesting, if possible. And yes, I know you'll add some more, and I'm stoked. Hopefully I just might make a video with that soon :)

Ah, don't worry. I'm sure Exo might be developing a remake in the near future. I'm already working on DDS and OnDemand loading, so that should be cool.
