Wiki questions

Is there any Squad employees who's looking after the wiki? I have some questions
1. Can someone upgrade the MediaWiki software?
2. Is it possible and practical to enable JS userscripts? (Will there be any security concerns?)
3. Removal of Thai translation? Because there's almost no one who's maintaining the language (except me and like 2 other people from Thai Wikipedia), and KSP doesn't have Thai localization in game, which makes translated pages come out badly.

4. Changing the localization system  from subpages system to interwiki links system? Because I can't see how many pages are in a given language.

There's a Thai translation??? I edit the wikis every so often to fix minor and important details. I explore the wiki and never noticed (until now) a Thai translation.

Yes, but you could say that it is a "dead project". For other languages you might also not know, see https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Project:Translation

Hello! I'll follow up with the team on this. Due to the holidays, we may not be able to take any action until January at the earliest but I'll see what can be done!

Another recommendation I want to make. Maybe change the registration captcha to be the MediaWiki stock ones? As seen in https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:CreateAccount

Thank you for your feedback. I passed along your questions to the team and they're working on investigating the issues.

As of right now:
1. Looking into it.
2. Will not be turned on. Potential for security issues.
3. May not be possible. Need to ensure the removal of content does not break anything, but looking into it still.
4. Looking into it.

Maybe we can (or need to) postpone this for now. I have been taking a look at https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Kerbal_Space_Program_Wiki:Migration_problems and I found out that some problems still persist. The first one I saw is SVG thumbnail creation through https://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/File:Ambox_warning_orange.svg. From the displayed error:

Error creating thumbnail: /bin/bash: rsvg-convert: command not found

I presume that it is an internal config problem. The fixes I could think of are

  1. Check if "rsvg-convert" is installed on the host, if not, do it.
  2. If "rsvg-convert" is installed but not on directory pointed by software, maybe change (or add) some config keys to LocalSettings.php: "$wgSVGConverter" "$wgSVGConverters" "$wgSVGConverterPath" (not all are required, but I don't know the host's configs so I'm throwing all of it here.)

Hi there!

We are still looking into this and appreciate the feedback you have provided on the issue. I hope to have more information for you after the long weekend(Memorial Day for the US).

Thanks!
