A 75% 'Mammoth', consisting of 3 Vectors in a 3.75m base. Mode switching for Elephant-Plume effects! For Kerbal Space Program.

The Elephant Engine

This add-on adds one engine part

S3 KS-25x3 'Elephant' Liquid Fuel Engine

The Elephant Engine is effectively a 75% "Mammoth". It consists of three "Vectors" in a single 3.75m housing, for when a Mammoth is just overkill. As a side-bonus, mode switching in-flight will allow you to emit a plume of elephants, instead of fire. ;p

  • light on memory usage because it uses existing game textures and models

  • adds (optional) custom FX and SFX

  • Multi-Mode LFO Engine

  • S3 KS-25x3 "Elephant" Liquid Fuel Engine

I mean, if it's heavier, why should I use this instead of limiting the mammoth's thrust to 75% and using that with an higher TWR?

    • LFB KR-1x2 "Twin-Boar" because over 25% is fuel tank and contents
    • RV-1 "Cub" because is radial attached or vernier or non-traditonal like aerospike
  • Mass Calculation:

    • Part I: (4 x 3) * (( 0.9375 + 1)/2) = 11.625.
    • Note: Averaged the ratio of 15:16 with 16:16 (or 1:1) for a nicer feeling number.
    • Explanation of math
      • 4 = Mass of Vector
      • 3 = Number of Vectors
      • 0.9375 = Mass of the Mammoth (15) / Mass of Four Vectors (16)

[^2]: the "Elephant" engines multimode is purely gfx/sfx and does not affect game mechanics

what about gimbaling? Currently  is 10.5°  |  8% GRS. Maybe make it more like 1.5° at 8%?

 

and why multiple smaller engines instead of one big one?

Yeah, 1,5° of gimbal is probably enough. 3 Vector with an engine plate are a bit wobbly due the high gimbal; Having an engine of similar power, but more stable would be perfect.

I notice an incompatibility with Restock; It can't load the Vector texture, probably because Restock replace them.
