.17 Planet and Moon Scale [Image]

Tossed this together this afternoon as a quick mock up for another project and thought it was neat, so I figured I'd share it. Assuming all the data on the wiki is correct, this is the current (.17) "Kerbol" solar system celestial body diameter comparison. Distances between bodies are not to scale.

Trying a different layout/zoom for a better representation of Gilly.

Yes, Yes it is. The reason kerbol looks small in the game is because of the your distance away from it. By the just a small note kerbol isn't actually its name. It was a name that was created on the fourm and not by Squad but I agree that they should use kerbol instead of sun as the name.

2: I'd like to see Gilly on the same scale as the rest, even if it's just a single-pixel dot. (If it is there already, it's anti-aliased to invisibility - try making it darker?)

If you look very closely, it's there. :) It's just so small it can almost be mistaken for a speck on the screen.

Great diagram! Two nits:

1: Might as well label the sun "Kerbol" (its proper name).

2: I'd like to see Gilly on the same scale as the rest, even if it's just a single-pixel dot. (If it is there already, it's anti-aliased to invisibility - try making it darker?)

Actually it's not, it's the Sun

The scale for this image may be a little off. I tabulated circular orbit velocities for most of the current bodies at 100km, and here's what I got:

Tylo- 2009m/s

Kerbin- 2248

Mun-466

Minmus- 105

Moho- 837

Eve- 3196

Duna- 847

Ike-284

Laythe- 1808

Vall- 720

Bop-122

Given that orbital velocity at 100km is related to each world's gravitational parameter, this gives us a way to guesstimate each world's radius- assuming density is constant.

Problem is, I've forgotten the formula!!

I always thought it was strange that Laythe and Tylo had Kerbin's gravity. But seeing how big they truly are compared to the homeworld, geez. Suddenly those numbers don't look so weird... Also, I guess this pretty much destroys the notion that Kerbol (I like that name so I'm still using it. :P) is a red dwarf. A dwarf wouldn't dwarf (pun intended) its own planetary system like that. It looks more like a red giant, which if you think of it that way, the Kerbol system has only maybe one or two billion years left. No wonder the Kerbals are trying frantically to get into space. :P

It is there, just barely visible. I darkened her up to a black dot and it didn't seem to help much. I am uploading another much larger version with a different zoom. Hopefully it helps

Could you put Earth in there, just for comparison? Maybe Luna as well?
