KSP 1.12.3.3173 Crashes on Load

Recommended Posts

I was testing some Kopernicus planet config files and KSP started crashing.  I removed the planet config files, but the problem remains.  Since the crashing started during planet testing, and without installing any new MODs, I do not think it is a mod-related problem and that something in "core" KSP installation may have been corrupted.

This is the displayed error:
   Visual Studio Just-In-Time Debugger
An unhandled win32 exception occured in [3892] KSP_x64.exe.
Just-In-Time debugging this exception failed with the following
error: No installed debugger has Just-In-Time debugging enabled.
In Visual Studio, Just-In-Time debugging can be enabled from
      Tools/Options/Debugging/Just-In-Time.

Check the documentation index for 'Just-In-Time debugging, errors'
      for more information.

This is odd because I do not currently have Visual Studio installed.

Hi, @Mangelhaft!

This one is a new for me. From your logs, I found:

Mono DLL loaded successfully at 'D:\Program Files\Kerbal Space Program\1.12.3.3173\MonoBleedingEdge\EmbedRuntime\mono-2.0-bdwgc.dll'.

Stack Trace of Crashed Thread 5760:

ERROR: SymGetModuleInfo64, GetLastError: 'A dynamic link library (DLL) initialization routine failed.' (Address: 00000002BA47BE20)

What suggests some DLL is missing or corrupted in your rig. It appears to be a Windows native DLL, as problems with C# DLLs are logged using another format on the log file.

I suggest you backup all your savegames and then verify the installation (if you are using Steam), or reinstall KSP from scratch (if not).

If reinstalling, I suggest to do it on a new directory, check if KSP is starting fine on the new directory, and then copy the add'ons to the new folder, running it now and then to see if something gets screwed up in the process.

Remember to keep the savegames backup'ed and do not load any savegames until you are satisfied with the new installment. When you load a savegame without installing all the add'ons it uses, the data used by these add'ons is wiped out from the savegame, and most of the time this render your crafts (including the ones flying) permanently mangled.

Cheers and good luck!

---> Lisais, thank you for your help.

I made a clean re-install.  I added the MODs one by one.  The culprit is KerbinSide Remastered  1.0.1.0.  This is strange because it was working flawlessly since my initial install of 1.12.3.3173.

On the KerbinSide Remastered page, it is supposed to work with 1.12.3, and it did so for a couple of weeks.

Does anyone have any ideas of why this would spontaneously stop working and bork the game?
