Looking for a simple mod for production of Kerbals [solved... I guess]

Recommended Posts

I have been looking for this, but it seems like growing the population of your colonies without sending busfulls of Kerbals every so often is locked away behind a lot of additional parts from a mod that relies on food/water/air life support mods, both civilian population and MKS kolonization. I found an old mod that did kind of what I needed, but it was outdated. Is there any up to date, patch based mod that allows for generating new Kerbals in-situ?

EDIT: this is the one that I talked about https://forum.kerbalspaceprogram.com/index.php?/topic/191525-1122-moarkerbals-populate-your-colony-in-space-11299-prerelease-20-nov-2021/

EDIT2: I swear it was out of date when I checked earlier today. Whoops.

Another way to get Kerbals is to take every rescue contract, no matter how far away.  I typically "shanghai" the ones that are far from Kerbin (Jool especially as I always need kerbals there) directly into a job and don't return them to Kerbin.  But if the craft is supposed to be returned I'll return it to Kerbin typically, but not always.  When I do this I will MOD-F12 and "complete" the contract.  I know.  Very cheaty.  But in my head they are so grateful for being rescued that they want to get to work right away, lol

Harvesting stranded Kerbals would be a very funny way to grow a colony in a different star system, maybe I will just meddle a bit with contract manager to make those contracts more common.

Point taken.  But I was assuming that the pattern of rescuee locations being mostly in SOIs one already has a presence in staying in place for KSP2 and other stars.   So once you got a craft to the other star you'd start seeing rescue contracts around that star.  I really hope that KSP2 gives rescuees the experience level commensurate with having somehow gotten to that location.  That is a rescuee around Jool should have at least 5 stars, maybe minus one for requiring rescue, lol

I am prepping the repo for the next update. The core version comes without parts and uses stock parts (adds functionality not parts (overloads functionality)) so very minor resource impact.

Well, tourists don't get experience, and we have no reason to believe these Kerbals have learned anything from their mistakes.
