Safely Installing Community Tech Tree

@DKrazyThere's a risk of breaking saves any time you add/remove/update mods. Here's how I handle it.

I bought KSP through Steam. I copy that KSP install folder to a new folder so that it's unmanaged by Steam. Then I add mods and play from that 2nd folder. If I later want to make some mod changes, I first backup the 2nd folder first so I can easily undo the changes if needed.

To explain how that might work for you, find your existing KSP folder and copy it to something like "c:\KSPwithCTT". Then install Community Tech Tree into that folder and either start a new save or see what happens to your existing save.

So, there's a bit of a problem. I use the ckan mod manager for my KSP mods. Would that mess anything up if I created another install folder?

No problem at all. CKAN can track each installation separately. Start CKAN then look in File / Manage Game Instances.
