Hi everyone – this is Nate Simpson, Creative Director for Kerbal Space Program 2. We have made the difficult decision to move the release date of KSP 2, which will now launch in early 2023 on PC with our console release later that year.

We are building a game of tremendous technological complexity, and are taking this additional time to ensure we hit the quality and level of polish it deserves. We remain focused on making sure KSP2 performs well on a variety of hardware, has amazing graphics, and is rich with content. We’ve built a spectacular team at Intercept Games – a team that includes, as previously mentioned, key members from the development team behind the original Kerbal Space Program. We have the perfect combination of experienced, passionate, and skilled developers to fully realize this game’s ambitious potential.

We are forever grateful to the KSP community for sticking with us on this journey, and we appreciate your continued support as we push towards the finish line. We can’t wait for everyone to play the game, and we’ll keep sharing more information with you in the coming months.

Not too bad of a delay it seems, thanks for keeping us updated guys!

If anything, I'd interpret this as good news. 'Early 2023' and not just '2023' suggests to me that they're confident that it'll be ready for that relatively short release window.

I dont mind waiting a bit longer for such a cool game
dont be afraid to delay it even further if needed
we dont want an unfinished game
i wish you guys much luck for finishing the game before release

A deep sigh happened on my side, but I as many others can only hope that early means early.

Ah, and the picture perfectly describes the process, we had some peeks at internal mechanisms but they got far less attention than pretty pictures.

Keep up the good work and give us the best Kerbal you can make when the time comes.

I am glad it is releasing on PC first. This implies the PC version probably won’t be overly handicapped as a result of old gen console capabilities. Maybe the delay will even mean old consoles won’t be supported at all (which I still think is ideal for a number of reasons).

From a timing perspective it actually works out much better for me personally so I couldn’t care less with the delay, as I would have been delayed in playing it anyway until then.  :)

Thanks for the info Nate, all appreciation for the effort of the whole team! It's going to be the greatest game.

I hope you make it so we can all build together in a persistent world. Really can't wait to discover all the cool things everyone has and will create in the game universe.

Great. Well, atleast i will have time to prepare.

Let's hope this promise is kept. Just in time for christmas.

Thankfully it's not a long delay. Like we are still going to wait 8-9  months till it comes out

Preorders might/possibly be in late 2022, which would be good for a bigger audience in order for them to be able to get the game for christmas.

And i won't have to save my birthday money for it!!!!!!!!!!!

Always sucks to hear a delay - but I think what I'd like to see more then is just a more consistent schedule for any of the dev team reveals/communications/etc. I don't think its the total release date that has me on edge, but the complete question of "When will I know more" just being big old question marks. The community has identified trends, but trends are not "come back on the third friday of every month for something small or large".
