DC trip

Hi all! I just got back from a trip to Washington DC. I don't post much anymore on the forums, but Idk just felt like sharing this.

Got a glimpse at a couple Rivian RT1 trucks being transported around the outskirts of DC

Our first day there we were lucky enough to tour 8th&I, the oldest Marine Corp barracks in the U.S. (this was a trip for my MCJROTC unit)

Also saw the Commandant's house, the oldest building in Washington DC. (The British did not burn it down in the war of 1812 out of respect to the Marine Corps)

White House. Honestly smaller then I was expecting, especially compared to other buildings in DC. 

 

Did a lil squatting (yes I blinked, gonna fix that in PS later)

went to the Holocaust museum. Didn't take any pictures, it seemed disrespectful. (and would have been hard, it was very low light inside)

Lincoln Memorial

Vietnam memorial. It's close to home, my grandpa served in Vietnam.

Good picture of the  Washington monument and reflecting pool

Tomb of the Unknown Solider. Also need to adjust some levels in this one.

And paid respects to the Kennedy family. (other photos were too large to upload)

Along with the Challenger+Colombia memorials

On Friday we got to see the weekly parade at 8th&I. Here is the president's own!

@Lewie  Thanks for sharing!  We went to a lot of the same places on my son's recent 8th grade trip.  Missed out on 8th and I - although I have seen the show several times.  Band is amazing.  Did you get a chance to see the Silent Drill Team?

Yep! SO. DANG. AMAZING. The meatgrinder sent shivers down our spines. Mad respect to those guys, rifle drill is tough!

Interesting fact - all those guys are within 1 inch of height of each other.
