Experiment 1: How high can a parachute survive?

Spoiler

We first build a ship that can bring a parachute in space.

Then we bring it on the Dessert Launch Site because it's the highest one above sea level

And launch it. The parachute is below the probe core.

So majestic...

Here we deploy the parachute, slightly before 20 km.

However, our parachute is not that resistant to aero forces and heat

So we reload last quicksave and throttle down.

Here we go.

We are now approaching space, the parachute is still here

But disappears as soon as we leave the atmosphere.

In conclusion,
   1. A parachute can be brought everywhere as long as it stays in the atmosphere.
   2. It will disappear as soon as you leave atmosphere.

And this concludes our experiment on parachutes in KSP.

Will you please provide a craft file for the "Dragless Contraption"?

Yes, when I'll stop KSP - for memory reasons KSP takes a lot of RAM and the web browser I use is unable to run when KSP is. (I use another computer to go on the forums)
