Advanced spaceplane design

okay so I progressed a lot on a previous topic(vanamonde,that topic is going 7 pages so pls do not merge :) )

now i would like to upgrade my spaceplane.

changes:

  • lights for landing at night(19 times failed on ike night landing)
  • better controll in atmosphere(always tumbling and requiring powered decent on atmos planets except kerbin(idk why not working on laythe!!!))
  • more dv(dv running really low when i decided to go to jool system from duna,and i had to refuel on dres)
  • more reaction wheels(hard to control in everywhere except kerbin atmosphere)
  • landing gear on engine(powered decent makes ur engines the first to touch ground instead of the designed lv99s)

im working on the easy parts like lights and reaction wheels and landing gear,but changing wings...(oh i see!com changes when fuel goes low!making it unstable!)

okay after sticking 2 twin boosters and removing the guts(eww)

they say that they are mach better

and we get a quad booster which can also go to orbit and has 2314 dv left(whoops only 100dv more than a twin booster and takes twice as much time to isru :( )

i think that the issue is um we should add more mass per engine?idk

@James Kermanwhy is this running low on dv

would adding a single nerva make it better?(this way,we can do planetery transfers alomst free,but still have this much dv)

whoops when the plane has orbited to the correctly landed ssto test 13 monument,i found out that it was in an orbit inside kerbin and still untouched??????

looks like some problem the same reason of stratablitz's dres bridge

its apoasis is always decreasing

nope,increasing

it might come out of the ground with a large booooom

okay it rose to sea level

and i briefly saw a sea,just under the land

and then,after a second,it fell back to the land,and crashed

so kerbin is 99.98% water and all of its magma is water

oh just found out that the right side(where u can see the remaining resources) got glitched after collision with land,and had lots of duplicates

lemme see if other probes have this glitch too

nope

oh no that glitch was permanent

i need to restart ksp

It's often said that a good spaceplane also makes a good submarine in KSP. :happy:

You are carrying a lot of mass in the ISRU setup. This setup will take longer to refuel buy has about 1/4 the mass:

The trick for slow refuelling is to get everything going, return your game focus to the tracking station and warp time for a few days. I'd also remove the avionics pod as the large probe core has all the same functions.

Yes, the junior drill needs to have 5% ore concentration or more to operate so I'd use a single large drill.

There is a large probe core behind the large reaction wheel so an avionics pod is redundant, you should swap it for a nosecone or intake with lower mass.

Yes, almost all parts in KSP are buoyant. Ore is very heavy and counteracts the parts but it takes a little experimentation to get a vessel balanced underwater.

ur smol isru set makes it able to contain 2 additional hitchhikers!

just found a tank that would only like to eat 75 ore instead of 300 ore on original tank

less dead weight!(its empty weight is still less than original,as we can jettision ore after refueling)

just found out that changing the avionics to a smol intake instead of nose kone would save 0.00005t!lol

okay new a groups finished,lemme test it

ps:i see that the most flames come from the 2 mj cases

should turn it into 1 and put it beside isru set(mj cases dont weight anything in mj i downloaded)

2271 dv into orbit!great!

problems:

  1. mech jeb case stikin out
  2. too many elevons,should turn into strakes

 

just found out that the lights and pbnuks are stikin more out

2349dv!a bit of improvements!

well i just decreased the amount of intakes due to TOO EXCESS INTAKES LIKE ONE ENGINE INTAKE(the one with 5 intake multiplier) FOR EVERY RAPIER

thats TOO MUCH for a spaceplane,causing much drag

but it doesn't matter since there is something called decimals(throttle is not an all or none!)

1350m/s and apoasis 36km before using the first drop of ox!

2800dv at apoasis 73km!

btw,why am i carriing 32535 lf and 33715 ox on takeoff????????????
