Military Aircraft Observation

Hello, gentlemen. This morning, around 15 minutes ago, I saw a military jet fly over my house, that was loud. Obviously USAF these are the choices that remain:

1) C-17 Globemaster III

2) C-5 Galaxy

3) B-1 Lancer

4) F-15

Sadly it was at night, and looked like a star.

Well I'd say that you saw a C-5, if youre close to my hometown in southwest ohio, where I am now in northwest indiana I see C-17's, C-130's and a-10's

Where I live ( England Suffolk and Essex boarder ) there's a RAF and USAF base near by and during the summer months we often see low flying gunships and often I run out and wave and they are flying low enough for me to see them waving back

I saw globemasters around my house this summer for some reason. I live in northeast ohio

A few years ago I got to listen to a pair of army helicopters take off, at about 11 PM at night, over my house as I live next to a small airport.

About 5 to 8 minutes later another pair took off and then another pair. This went on every 8 minutes or less for 6 hours.

I believe the reserve station at youngstown is transferring from the c130 to the c17

Only Tornados and the occassional stray swiss F-18 where I live.

This entire thread makes me remember how much I hated having a dorm by the flightline. And working mostly midnight shift.

Where I live now there are only the occasional C-5's and the stationed reserve F-16's.

I live near the largest military airbase on the planet Protip - F15s are LOUD. F-22s are LOUDER. B-2 Spirits are INSANE.

Yes, capital letters were needed. I don't mind the noise, though - I like going out and watching whatever's flying over my house. We had a P-51 Mustang fly over the other day, and we get a squadron or two of Blackhawks/Chinooks every day. Sometimes we even see Apaches/Super Cobras.

These days, the A400M prototypes are often doing test flight campaigns above my house.

Noisy bugger too! There's no point in covering it with radar-reflective paint if you can hear the engines from miles away!
