What are the correct installation instructions for this mod? The ZIP contains a folder called "Awakenings", but copying this to GameData crashes Kopernicus and prevents the main menu from loading:

The configs apparently assume that the KIPcore subdirectory will be copied to GameData instead:

                texture = KIPcore/_Systems/_Core/_PluginData/Overture_Color.dds
		normals = KIPcore/_Systems/_Core/_PluginData/Overture_Normal.dds

... and doing it that way allows the game to load properly.

Looks like KIPcore is the correct install folder, then.

Yes, I'm willing to bet on that as well. Perhaps it should be mentioned in the OP or on SpaceDock or in the README.

Though it is also possible that the "Awakenings" folder was created with the intention of making that the main install folder, and then the needed config update was forgotten. If that's the case, then it would be good to get that sorted out before we add this to CKAN, to avoid breaking installs in a future upgrade.

Mistake on my part, Awakenings was meant to be the master folder for everything included in the download, with the intent that KIPcore would be taken out of it as the actual mod file. Didn’t make it clear enough though, so CKAN support would have to come during Release 2 (Adrift) in a few weeks

Congratulations on the release!

Every system replacer I've tried recently so far has either been too little or too much, but hopefully this one is just right.

A lifetime of only three months is pretty concerning, though.

Just curious, what is the intended "course of it's life", since you say it will officially lose support in just under 3 months time? 5 installations seems fairly optimistic for such a short timeframe taking into consideration that you've stated it took a year and a half to create this pack. Unless the currently unreleased installations are all either partially complete already, or are intended to be relatively small updates compared to the size of the initial release? Not being a downer or anything this question just popped into my head as I was reading the post.

The 5 installations are only going to be additions to the pack that add on to the story, and/or add new destinations. Almost all systems that are coming in the future are constructed in some form but are just lacking the polish.

The course of Lazarus's life is from now until KSP 2 releases, it took me a year and a half to get Awakenings done because it's the bulk of the mod, basically the entire core system, master files, visuals, etc, and it was also a process of continuing to improve until I reached a result I am confident enough to release (which is a lot higher of a bar than you might think)

Release 2: Adrift Development Update #1

It’s about time I show off what’s been under the hood in the upcoming second installation of Lazarus.

Some Hungry Alien Life
Recently, I picked up the book Project Hail Mary and instantly ideas flooded my mind. If astrophages can grow on the sun, why wouldn’t they grow on other stars as a galactic species?

Introducing the Elani Anomaly:

image.png
A steady stream of Astrophages slowly leading a system to its demise.

How exciting, more bug reports!

New list of current known bugs:

- Aurora on gas giants not lined up with tilt properly

- Interstellar system EVE configs not functioning

- Gala’s low resolution clouds

- KSC Extended is not compatible with Lazarus

Discord: Greatest Lazarus News Outlet

All of this and more content related to Adrift is available in the discord server, which I recommend if you’re interested in frequent updates, Lazarus’s story. This is also where you will get support the quickest as I check it the most often.

  • 2 weeks later...
  • 3 weeks later...
  • 2 weeks later...

V. 1.0.1 out now, fixes some major issues and adds a new system "Poltergeist"

Support for Awakenings may not end entirely but new content will definitely be scarce

Also fixed the filepath thing
