Game seems slower than usual

For the last few months, I've been playing the game with 100+ mods just fine with minimal lagging. I got back into playing it again after a long break and noticed it takes a lot longer to load, open saves, etc. I know the obvious answer would be to remove a bunch of the mods I'm using but it just seems strange that this is happening all of a sudden.

Could be related to the drive you’ve put KSP on, maybe it’s getting full or needs defragmenting? Check the game logs to see if a mod is causing issues, maybe because of an update that isn’t playing nicely with other mods.

I removed a bunch of old files off my drive but I also learned about framerate limit and disabling v-sync and that helped too. Thanks for your help?
