What's this?! New install with same modlist now has bugs?! Come see disappearing menus! Strangely stacking buttons! (KSP1.12.5.3190 Winx64)

Recommended Posts

Fresh install of KSP1 + DLC  + Modlist (below) seems to have developed a weird bug where I lose menus that should appear on right-click, and buttons on the right hand of the screen start to stack.  I have previously ran this version + combination of mods for ~800 hours without this problem so I'm curious as to what's happened this time. I don't have the knowledge to make sense of the logs but there are quite a few exceptions being spat out, for example:

Can someone with a bigger brain please explain what I can do to fix this? This is the 2nd or 3rd completely clean state save and it's getting a bit frustrating.

Well, you never said what version of KSP you upgrading *from*...
Also, that tree listing doesnt show a /GameData/ root folder..??
You also, for one thing, have an "/Extras" folder, for Restock... that would need to manually be adjusted for that stuff to end up somewhere in the actual "/Restock" folder, I believe vOv
You also have an outdated (tho not very) ModuleManager version

My apolgies!

Not upgrading, clean install.

That is the GameData folder - just in tree form.

I shall look into the Extras and update ModuleManager and report back.

Cheers!

Extras stored in Restock file, ModuleManager v4.2.2 running, problems still present.

This from the log below:

You put mods into the Steam copy of KSP. Big no-no, Steam breaks modded KSP all the time and usually in weird ways like this.

  1. Copy your save files to your desktop.
  2. Uninstall all your mods.
  3. Uninstall and reinstall KSP through Steam.
  4. Verify the game files in Steam and run the game to make sure stock KSP works.
  5. Copy KSP in its entirety from Steam/steamapps/common and paste it somewhere outside of Steam’s folders so it can’t interfere.
  6. Install your mods into this new copy and add your save files to it.

Thanks Jimmy. Schoolboy error!

Reinstalled as described - so far, so stable. Thanks both for help.
