Hmm. Given how Elite II for the C64 managed to have quite a lot of things that KSP has (fairly realistic Newtonian physics, landing, curved polygons [which was a big deal back in 1993], large universe that uses procedural generation to keep the fielsize down...)...and had docking (of sorts)...it's not too far fetched that a game like KSP, but more basic, would have been possible in some form. The construction/modular destruction would probably have been the hardest bit, and if anything would be the bit that made such a game impossible on the platform.

Hey guys, this was an attempt at making an old ad for the game. Since the 64 was the oldest computer that most people know and/or used , that's why i picked it. It would've also been possibly welcome, as in the 80's when the 64 was in full swing, the Space Shuttle was being launched. This could also be literally applied to any computing platform, just switch out the peripherals and/or language for the era. An example is below, for modern platforms:

Introducing From Squad Games, it's

Kerbal Space Program!

Features:

Drag-and-drop pieces

Joystick Compatibility

Physics engine more advanced than modern FPS's

Hi-quality graphics

Internet Forums and game buying

Available from www.kerbalspaceprogram.com for medium to high-speed computers, it's fun for everybody!

Well, kick it up to MS-DOS, and it was be totally feasible. I've actually played DOS games on DOSBox that extensively use a mous.
