[0.18/19/20/21] KerbalEdit - Take Control of your Data

Recommended Posts

I sent you a PM with a link to the bug report and the requested files. Let me know if you have trouble getting there, and also when you don't, please :)

Best regards

Took a quick diff of the files and the error is pretty clear, with some of the new file sections I need to update some of the data profiles for objects, nothing too heavy (mainly it looks like Scenarios are being treated as vessels for some reason, I thought I coded it for new unknown sections to simply be ignored but preserved, this is why the system always runs a backup before saving). It's actually an optional feature of KerbalData but I use it heavily in KerbalEdit thus the need to update the objects. It will take me a few days as I only play with the code for an hour or so on any given evening. Planning to have a fix ASAP. I most certainly need to build a more comprehensive test suite with good data. I'll make a post when things are good to go.

Thanks for the help!

I'm having problems getting it to work

I've installed the latest version, I've ensured I have .NET 4

When I run KerbalEdit I select folder, I navigate to here: C:\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_win, I click "OK" and it crashes. If I type in this location and click load, nothing happens.

If I select a subfolder within KSP_win such as: C:\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_win\saves - nothing happens when I type this in and click load nothing happens.

When I select a further subfolder such as: C:\Kerbal Space Program\KSP_win\saves\The Verse (my save game) and click load the only thing that can be expanded in the tree are the craft.

Any ideas?

EDIT: I RClicked "saves" and imported the persistent save file, it asked me to save a new one, and then allowed me to edit the file. Is this the correct process?

I'm not sure that this is still an active mode, so it may not matter. However, I am pretty sure that this tool is incompatible with KSP v0.24.x. Once I edit a save with it, the "active contracts" button disappears from the screen. I have only seen this error on saves that I have edited with KerbalEdit.

I would have been surprised if this mod still worked, after months of not getting updates while KSP progressed a few versions. After all, it is still rated to work with KSP 0.21, and a lot of new data was added with the later versions.

Unfortunately, I can't find any license with this tool (must have escaped our checks), so it must be assumed the author kept all rights, nobody but him can create/publish any updated versions out of it.

Guys,

CodePlex will shutdown on July 1st 2021, so anything being hosted there will just vanish from the Web.

I made mirrors for KerbalEdit and KerbalData on:

Including some page dumps and license data to keep things tight on the legal side.

If anyone knows of anything else still on CodePlex, please advise. We have about 3  months to mirror what we can.

Cheers!
