Soyuz - WIP

Wait, when you say ISS transport, are you talking about the Soyuz spacecraft? Because I'm working on one, and I don't want to steal your thunder.

No, I'm just doing the outer hull not the spacecraft (The ones I'll be doing: http://www.spaceandtech.com/spacedata/elvs/soyuz_image4.shtml) so keep on doing yours ;)

Looks cool. I was working on a bunch of R7 rockets over the past like, 3 months. I haven't done anything in around a month and a half due to real life stuff (and being lazy) but I started out awhile ago to make a bunch of modules which players could then build any kind of R7 series of rockets with those parts.

I'll finish the project one day... once the game is improved more and once players are able to choose thier command pod, because otherwise any rocket other then the sputnik is useless :v

But yeah, I got a bit burnt out doing it, but am being pressured by the somethingawful.com communtiy (well, the people in the KSP thread) to finish it up one day.

Not to rain on your parade, just showing off. Maybe I should have made a WIP thread, but just not update it for a few months :P

I found them.

Anyway, I'm playing with numbers and have some alternate numbers if y'all want to try them out:

Payload fuel tank- mass 4.5/ fuel 900

Main Tank- mass 9/ fuel 1800

Main engine- mass 2.5/ thrust 250/ fuelconsumption 10

Booster- mass 2/thrust 125/fuelconsumption 4/fuel 360

(terms edited for clarity)

Lift off w main engine at 50% plus boosters. At booster cut off (around 16k@300m/s) throttle up to 100% and tip over to 45*. Keep an eye on vertical velocity and keep tipping over to keep it at a manageable level.

Reasons for changes- Main fuel tank is about the same size as 6 normal fuel tanks, and really should be about 3000 capacity. Payload Tank is visually bigger also. The engine and booster numbers are to get an appropriate TWR with the heavier components.

when you say weight is that the Mass? and Burn, is that equal to FuelConsumption?

  • 1 month later...

Looks real good, I\'m planning on making a Proton-Transportniy Korabl Snabzheniya (TKS) with a working Vozvraschaemyi Apparat, it\'s real good to have some of the great stuff from the Russian Space Program.

TKS:

people expect to continue ....

There is a possibility to download 3D models ...

That is awesome.

Just had a quick play with the pack. Visually it looks great but overall I don\'t see myself using this pack. The values feel wrong, and I foresee myself wasting a lot of time trying to sort them. The strap on boosters should be liquid, not solid fuelled. Also from a quick look at the CFG tell my engine gimballing is not enabled. I turned it on and it shook the thing to pieces.

I totally love it!

Only qualms are it seems a bit overpowered as it easily makes it to the mun and back. Then I added legs and attempted a munar landing, but it seemed like the SAS being the tower above the pod made it prone to instability.

Great work though, I should probably just stop trying to use the 3rd stage as a lander! Can\'t wait to be able to take this to the KSS.
