KIDI- Kerbal Interplanetary Defence Initiative

Recommended Posts

For a ton of ideas on unrealistic and realistic spaceships, including lots of actual nuclear rockets, "atomic rockets" is an invaluable resource. Plus, if you have doubts, the creator hangs around here.

Indeed I do hang out around here. Mostly I sit and marvel at the stunning creations produced by the Kerbal Grandmasters. And at the incredible flexibility of a computer game that would allow scope for these creations.

Personally I'd like to see somebody make a Pilgrim Observer.

http://www.projectrho.com/public_html/rocket/realdesigns.php#id--Pilgrim_Observer

It is boosted into orbit on top of the second stage of a Saturn V. In orbit, the shroud is jettisoned. The NERVA nuclear engine extends outward on a long telescoping boom, to help protect the crew from radiation.

When the engine is not thrusting, the three habitat modules swivel out, then start spinning to produce artificial gravity.

And on the complete opposite side of the sliding scale of realism, Silverlight Solar Solutions would like to present its first (theoretical) product; a 100% 70% 55% accurate replica of a Coalition Kamov torpedo bomber, circa 2000's Starlancer space combat simulator. This fine strike vessel carries four dumb-fire sepratron-stabilized SRB torpedoes (don't let the torpedoes hear you calling them dumb) capable of penetrating even the most stubborn structural panels.

YHN6Shy.jpg

Utilizing the Damned Robotics module, the Kamov offers variable-geometry torpedo bays and is able to bring its payload in snug as a bug in a rug for more efficient burns. Silverlight Solar Solutions is not responsible for catastrophic structural failure resulting from launching torpedoes from this configuration.

MUDGQRb.jpg

Once your hapless target has been acquired, extend torpedo bays for maximum psychological effect. This bay configuration is the least likely to cause the Kamov to behead itself whilst launching its payload.

Take that, vacuum!

In its prototype state, after expending its ammunition the Kamov must be re-fitted at an orbital construction facility. Returning to Kerbin in this vessel is a risky proposition.

Zm148vj.jpg

It is highly advised to expend all four torpedoes at once before executing an exfiltration burn. Stability between shots is an issue, and bringing in the torpedo bays to their closed position does not fully alleviate balance issues. But why would you not launch all your torpedoes at once, anyway?

For the safety of the two brave Kerbals onboard, the command module serves as an escape capsule, and is equipped with an LV-909 and a small fuel tank to extricate the command module from sticky situations.

Currently, it has no way of exiting the atmosphere of Kerbin, and at a part count of over 400, a sufficiently powerful launch vehicle would be unfeasibly large. This craft exists in a purely theoretical state, simulated by the most advanced Hyper-Edit technologies.

We at Silverlight Solar Solutions would like to thank you for taking the time to review our product. Schematics are available for download by authorized construction firms. Load these into your Spaceplane Hangar.

I'd like to see someone *cough buckle cough* try a Macross Missile Massacre (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/MacrossMissileMassacre) with a KIDI ship.

Buckle, you seem to have an affinity with missiles.

Ask and ye shall receive.

"orbital party popper" is probably an apt name for this box full o' boom. Contains 200 missiles, for instant kessler syndrome!

Well I gavent set up stagaing or action groups for the dreadnought so it kind of does that anyways

Ill give it a go though

EDIT:

I have a missile cruiser capable of that, About half the capacity of the dreadnought but i HAVE A VIDEO OF IT

Yep..that qualifies for MMM. Maybe some Beam Spam next? :P

I would love to some pics of the bigger ship entering atmosphere. I would do it myself but my computer decided that yesterday was the day it would go to sleep forever. Now I'm waiting for enough monies to build one from scratch.

well, you can have a small ship with tons of parts... but i guess 400 parts would be a rough limit.

I could send you a cruiser that I have, it's never been launched or even loaded though due to my computer's part limit being roughly 100 (it's around 330) :P

-snip-

YOU. YOU WIN. It doesn't matter that it's only 55% accurate, it's still the first ship I've seen from Starlancer around here! :D

Might go and make a fighter from it now...

Sweet, thanks! Time to slap the discs in and flesh out my ITAC. Maybe I'll have a Basilisk in a few days.

An armoured cargo freighter for mun surface-orbit operations. Cargo bay fits a couple of orange tanks, I used damned robotics for an opening/closing door and gimbaling engines, quantum struts stop it from breaking apart.

The L-300 "Mule" is an up-armoured version of a civilian vessel designed to aid mun mining operations under threat and run blockades to help deliver precious fuel to vessels of war in orbit, as well as serving as a dropship to deploy ground vehicles on the mun.

120T and 2600m/s dV without cargo

190T and 1500m/s dV fully loaded

(not much dV I know, but its not really needed for getting into and out of orbit from the mun, where orbital velocity is only 550m/s)

Woah!! OMG you have done waht I have been trying to do for ages, with various mods... -_-'
