Cupcake's Dropship Dealership...

Recommended Posts

Fantastic pics mate, well done! I enjoyed reading about your missions so much it inspired me to head down the shop and do a wee bit of tuning. So this is the new version of the Tadpole which fixes a few little issues with the last model and brings the styling up to date. I've also added a couple more attachment points meaning parachutes can now be added without having to forgo the droptanks. Yay!

As for the Toad it's been buffed up and now serves as a medium lander that can now land on Tylo and return to orbit. :)

Last but not least we have the Jack Russel, which is kind of like a Bulldog but well... Smaller.

Still a fair bit of tweaking to do on these craft but I'll try and have them up and ready soon.

Awesome new craft!

I really need to do a mission report on all my Cupcake... Minmus activity.

I use mostly Puff Puffs, a Moth here and there, and a Bulldog if I need a massive cargo drop.

Awesome, thanks Cupcake! These updates look pretty exciting.

I don't know what little issues you mean about the Tadpole, but the latest model looks great.

I'll be sure to post some pics when Melbart gets to trade his current MK2 in for the new model!

I really like what you've done with the toad.

I actually didn't find myself using the current Mk2 Toad, because it just seemed like a Tadpole with a bigger engine.

But it sounds like the redesign now fills a Tylo-shapped gap.

I would definitely like to have one on stand-by attached to my Jool station!

Likewise, the Jack Russel looks like it fills a neat little niche, where you want more than a Moth, but less than a Bulldog!

It's great how alike it looks too! :D

Looking forward to hearing more about them!

Wait, I just realized something!

All my Minmus photos are on my KSP photos flashdrive, and the flashdrive is at home.

I'm on another continent now...

Oh well.

;.; That's a shame. I was looking forward to seeing the pics. I don't get to use Moth's much because I'm a bit heavy handed on the controls!

TADPOLE MK3 - CRAFT FILE:

Alright folks we have got the latest model Tadpole and Toad dropships, grab 'em while they're hot! :D

First off is the new Mk2 Toad which shares little with its predecessor save for the name and engine.

Xe7kBFL.jpg

Fuel capacity has been doubled and the craft is now Tylo capable, able to land and return to orbit on a tank full, which is nice.

Next us is the Mk3 Tadpole which adds even more functionality to a very vesatile design.

mGF81vd.jpg

A new end cap design has freed up an additional four attachment points on the side tanks which can be used to carry extra fuel, cargo or just enable more creative launch vehicle designs.

My hope is between these craft you'll have a lander for every occasion (except maybe for Eve).

The medium utility dropship (2nd from right) still needs work but I'll try and have a download up ASAP. Enjoy! :)

Awesome Cupcake! Can't wait to try them out. Also, that's a really great picture of the new product fleet lined up by size! :D

Thanks man, I'll await your latest batch of screenies with interest as well. :D

If at all possible, could you divulge a few building tips? I'm trying to build one of my own to show you and failing miserably.

Just so you know I use editor extensions to build my latest designs as it makes life a lot easier! So I don't waffle on for too long was there anything in particular that you were having trouble with?

Well, the main thing was that I had trouble attaching the two halves to a central fuel tank. I managed to get one half attached, but there was no way in heck I could attach the other one.

Apologies for the late reply. :( I'll try and knock up a quick image tutorial this weekend.

In other news:

Enjoy! :)

Thank you, madame! It's quite alright to reply late: I do it all the time! :P

While I have once appeared in drag (it happens to all of us at some stage) I do consider myself male.

Hahaha! A snow-boarding trip. I did not expect that! :D

I should have some SAS wheels to the boards rather then have the kerbals plumet helplessly to their doom. :(

The beauty of snowboarding kerbals cannot be denied.

It was surpisingly majestic. :)

Oh my gosh, I'm so sorry! The name Cupcake just strikes me as female.

I've put together a little Imgur album that'll hopefully help you out. Just so you know I'm still rocking KSP 1.0 and I'm not sure if editor extensions works with the latest version. You'll also have to change between snapping and free floating part placement depending on what you're doing. I'm missing quite a lot of detail but if you download the Tadpole Mk3 you should be able to fill in the gaps.

I also made a little build tutorial way back when which might help you out. While my build methods have changed the basic design principles have stayed the same.

Good luck! :)

Heh man,

Sorry about the delay, I've just been busy shifting flats. :( Thanks for sending the Jetpack through, I had a lot of fun flying it! It could probably do with more fuel and can be made more efficient by angling the engine nozzels straight down.

a0mshbm.jpg

The balance is quite a way off however there's so much reaction wheel torque it doesn't really matter! I think for these sort of craft the small reaction wheel is actually way too OP!

YfkDLEZ.jpg

my only other suggestion would be to perhaps add a small docking port at the bottom so you can reuse the craft, or perhaps even shift cargo with it. But yeah, cute design, I liked it very much. :)

Anyway folks, just wanted to let you know I'm going to be heading overseas for a while so I'm afraid I'll be out of action till September. When I get back however I'm planning on more tutorials, more dropships and more Niebles. Bye for now!

Hi everyone. I just want to say how this is one of my favorite threads because of all the cool ascetics and problem solving you guys and gals use, its real inspiring. I have made a few drop ships my self, but I haven't gotten myself to figure out how to post pics yet, I might soon. Anyway thanks for starting this thread Cupcake, and thanks everyone for making it great.

Sincerely Planetfall,
