In the next step of the Mun base and Space station, a large Miner was developed. With the size of the new miner, a new 3 meter launcher was made

fMCo7Ht.png

The miner set up near the Munar prospector that was sent earlier.

TSvGIXv.png

With the Miner safely extracting ore on the Mun, the expansion of the station was launched. It used the same lifter as the miner.

15D4mJj.png

A small tug was also included and helped dock the new expansion. The 3 kerbals docked at station were happy to finally stay somewhere else beyond their small capsule.

By the time the station was expanded, the miner was full. Although the station had no fuel or ore storage yet, it was still launched to the station.

And the current state of the station

I just finished a mission in my new Science Career that will forever be affectionately known as "The Skip Mission."  Jeb, Bill, and Bob had issues getting to orbit, as their chief engineer forgot to add control fins to their G5 rocket, causing an uncontrolled spin on the way to orbit.  The mission continued on to the Mun with a very successful gathering of a large amount of science data, however, the excess fuel used reaching LKO would could back to haunt the crew on their return.

After leaving the Mun and setting a course for home, it was apparent fuel would be tight to make a successful re-entry.  In the end, with a 2.5M meter apoapsis, and a 54K m periapsis, the crew "skipped" off the Kerbin atmosphere and back into space.  This happened not once, or twice...but 5 times before they burned off enough speed and apoapsis height to stay in the Kerbin atmosphere on the 6th attempt.  After a successful splashdown landing, and with the G5 capsule returned to the KSC, the true potential horror was realized.  The heat shield abalator had less than 20% effectiveness remaining.  One more skip off the atmosphere, and the crew likely would have burned up on re-entry.

The legend of Jeb lives on.

I went to Duna for the first time in this play through. I had several outstanding contracts for Duna so it would be a lucrative mission.

I get a spot to land, nice and low for the parachutes to be at their most effective. It took a couple of attempts as I set the PE for the de-orbit burn for 15 KM.

I was feeling pretty confident at this point. I don't have pictures but I found out the hard way I forgot to put a compensating mass on the other side of the rover to balance out the CM and I started tumbling at 10 KM AGL. I don't have pics because I was frantically trying to deploy the drogue chute.

But things stabilized after that.

Put together the beginnings of a lunar base on the Sea of Fertility (RSS, FAR, SMURFF, stock fuels/ISRU). The hab module hit bingo fuel about 1km off the lunar surface but some quick piloting got the ISRU down intact so mining and exploration can begin, until some new hab modules can be shipped out.

Since Comet Carwell 1 is nearing periapsis and has developed a long, bright tail, I tried to spot it from the Space Center screen, but alas, I had no luck. It should be here where I've marked but it's either still too small to show up or the Space Center doesn't display comets:

If I'm reading you post correctly, and it's been a long day so I'm probably not, but are you looking up into the night sky while on the screen that gives you access to all KSC buildings?

If so then, unless it was changed between the pre-release version that was sent out to some Youtubers and what we mere mortals finally got in 1.10., if you look at a video produced by Ytuber Shadow Zone, he was focused on the launchpad and looking up into the sky. a comet was easily visible in bother daylight and dark.

BTW and slightly - well OK, seriously - off topic here, how do you add Hidden Content to posts on this forum?

Surely you aren't going to stop posting reports about this mission now!  We need to see them getting home safely.

I guess it's just too far from Kerbin then. Maybe it'll get close enough to show up later.

The "hidden content," if I understand you correctly, comes from the spoiler button, which at this time looks like an eye in the post editor UI and is between the emoji button and the table button.

Orbital shuttle piloted by Hayney Kerman approaching the interplanetary crew vehicle KDSS Morning, which has spent the last 6 years in space on missions to Eve and Moho. The Morning's 5 crew members returned to Kerbin for some well deserved rest.

I reported earlier I was sending a Batwing on an accelerated schedule to Duna.

Have just performed the transfer insertion of the space train:

1hagqph.png

From right to left: Batwing, Mule, Escort.  After the burn, KER reporting 7.4 km/s dV remaining.  (The Escort, itself, had 58% fuel remaining.)

I had intended to permit the Escort to continue to Duna with the mission, but made a last-minute decision to separate and burn back for insertion into a lunar orbit, for refueling and recycling back to LKO.

Well, in addition to some casual flying in some planes I made in 1.9, I decided to take another crack at my old Flying House project from a couple of months back.

After completely redoing the engine pod system (dropping the nacelle rotation functionality and attachment system) and adding some reaction wheels when I discovered that the Thrust Vector control provides zero yaw control, I finally managed to get a flying house that doesn't flip over and explode within the first 3 seconds, then I took it for a test flight hovering above the KSC.

qBkVWWP.png

That said, while it didn't crash instantly, it still had all the handling of a drunken elephant (and aerodynamics to match) but I was however, able to put it down again (relatively) gently.

2MyzAyq.png

While I wouldn't call the thing elegant by most stretches of the term (not helped by my piloting skills), I am quite proud of the bonkers contraption.

I may be mad, but madness makes results. Using a concept from my 2 last posts on this forum and my last YouTube video (clipping 1 boosters far a way from each other to function as two, i unlisted that video it was low quality), I simultaneously went to the mun with 9 rockets.

Please consider subscribing and liking my video/channel, it really means a lot, and each new subscriber really encourages me to make more videos and just make me happy. And here are some pictures of the ground breaking mission.

Spent over two hours trying to get my Laythe lander to land in physics range (and on solid ground) of a stranded Kerbal (rescue contract).  Finally got it landed in range, but having trouble figuring out which way to go to reach the lander. Only just now realized I should use map view to get my bearings. Although being near a pole doesn't help.

E: Dangit THAT’s what F4 does, toggles the flight scene markers. I wondered where those went, sort of assumed it was an update “feature”

Mostly hauling Tourists around. 16 tourists headed to Mun to have a walkabout.

RgGctRa.jpg

10 Tourists to Minmus along with some supplies for the transfer station in Minmus Orbit.

VTP5S4g.jpg

Most of my time was dealing with a contract to take some readings near the UFO at Mun's southern pole.  @maja's Bon Voyage let me down when it shut down the rover 170 km from it's destination, so I had to finish myself.  I gave MechJeb's rover SAS a workout.  Speed locked at 30 m/s and do it Baja style. MechJeb gave the rover cat like reflexes to keep the wheels down.  Some of the crater rims launched the rover for some serious hang time. I was surprised nothing blew up on the landings.  I was able to pick up some science in flight low over the Mun's pole biomes.

Today I made another OPT (wouldbe Jool 5/ OPM adventure) flagship. Inspired by Space Battleship Yamato and @ShadowZone's Ozymandias. I'm still a huge fan of the YT series of the same name. :)By Ozymandias I mean this was at first meant to be able to land and refuel itself but I didn't make any option for high thrust, super-high Isp VTOL engines. I wanted to make one for exactly this occasion. Without it, I've waste all of the ship's fuel mass just making a safe landing. It's really not a nice idea going from a few hundred thousand seconds Isp main engines to a few hundreds of seconds Isp lander engines with a ship of this class.

Companion lander and spaceplane featured too but they both have some very short points to them. Lander has low TWR and the spaceplane is kinda big and complicated.

This guy posted his Starship to reddit, and it looked cool so I downloaded and played around with it. Made a couple of tweaks, etc. Fun stuff. It's stock.

I've sent a science drone to Eve. It's been a quite journey to build one, i kept forgetting some important stuff and took me a while to complete all;

unknown.png

It has folding wings to fit better in fairings. Did fair bit amount of testing on kerbin, found out landing gears were faulty so i've changed them.

unknown.png

Even though i wanted it to be small, it was quite big.

unknown.png

i could make a drone with way less amount of wings for eve atmo, it's really easy to fly in it but i wanted to make sure it's easy to land and take off. İt can land around 28ms, which is quite slow.

unknown.png?width=1194&height=671

Too damn many stuff in there.
