What did you do in KSP1 today?

This was actually last week. For the first time, I have figured out how to get a rover on the ground. I had built a lander that I am using for research and going back and forth from the Mun and Minmus. I have managed to get to Duna and back with it as well. When I leave the planet/moon, I dock with my fuel and go back home. Here is the "rover"...

Just after dropping from the lander...

The guys discussing what to do next...

After successful interplanetary ventures to Duna, Ike, and Bop, I have finally made time to travel to Gilly!

Departing Kerbin Orbit with Refueler attached for bonus fuel:

First time I've actually used aerobreaking on an interplanetary mission:

Just put up my station's core, ~500km orbit. Dubbed Farscape One. It's going to take about 7 or 8 more launches to get all the pieces up there.

EDIT: Managed to get two more modules attached - power generation and the refueling boom. Still to go are the habitation modules and the actual fuel tanks.

Nice rover you made, I like using the cupola as base instead of the lander can. I'm going to "borrow" you design :P

Today, Jeb found something strange on the Mun.

Because he ran out of fuel (again) and had to wait 7 hours for the rescue vehicle to arrive, he decided to climb the whateverthisis.

And while he was happy going blind staring into the sunset...

...he missed out on one of the most impressive events in recent history: Kerbinrise!!!

SPOILER ALERT:

[ There is no special surface to sample atop the Pyramids :( ]

Jeb went to Duna and crashed. Bill went after him but missed the landing zone by 30 km. Poor Jeb had to walk (run) there, since I didn't want to waste any more fuel. After he ran out of RCS fuel, I only had one option to get Jeb to the ship yet still participate in some form of social life.

Today I put a Kerbin in polar orbit around around the Mün. Just to get the EVA reports above biodoms as I'm scratching for more points to get the last two science bits. Will being doing that for Minmus with same craft. As well as docked two escape pods to my mobile science lab that will hang around Minmus or maybe the Mün before my Mün Minmus lander start to collect science. Here is a nice little picture: C7B1C72BA3FFF8EE334B299653E9576203A063FE

Also want to note that the Pods to the side where docked by A Kerbal that had to EVA to it and only had RCS for thrust as well as that the Hatches on both sides can exit Kerbals. Have to right click then left click the hatch area to bring up the trapped Kerbals.

Well, the new MMUs seem to work well...

Dammit, Lanwell! No selfies! Wait...how did you take that one? Meanwhile, Bob is tumbling in the background

Speaking of tumbling, this sample return probe fell over at landing about five times-it's just too light. Thanks to the magic of quickload, though, I eventually succeeded.

I was getting a little burned out with my routine before, so I was playing around with an idea I saw somewhere else (Modular Mun Base Kit I think it was called) but I am building it myself instead of downloading the pieces, and it's on the northern ice caps of Kerbin instead of at the Mun. It's harder than it looks to land everything "near" each other and make sure it all fits. I've only got two modules up there so far, a "command center" which is just a hitchhiker container with some antennas and solar arrays, and a fuel tank for the tractor since it uses a small amount of rocket fuel to dock sometimes. It is technically working, but I had a rocket malfunction when I dropped the command center up there so I had to send the rover 32km to go get it and bring it back to where I wanted the base to be. Thankfully I had the foresight to add MechJeb to it for the rover autopilot. The more I play the game and get better at things, the more certain things are just tedious and should probably be done by a robot, lol. There aren't any Kerbals there yet because the whole thing was so untested but I am flying a couple in shortly as I expand.

I completed something I started yesterday:

<snip>

Impressive! I like how they're just clinging to the thing for dear life, lol. I'm scared to even attempt a rescue mission for my Kerbal stranded on Eve :(

Nice!

I built a boat and then landed on it. Too bad it only goes at < 5m/s...

I like it. I wonder if wings work underwater to an extent, could make a sort of hydrofoil (I think that's the right word)? I've yet to try a boat, well other than the accidental kind that happens at a couple hundred m/s at the end of KSC Runway and goes boom.

I have been working on my Kerbin polar base a little more, got a Comm dish setup now and the base is now manned with 4 Kerbals. I managed to get the dish the closest to the base of anything else yet at around 2.2km away (I know, not impressive at all). I'm really getting some use out of that little tractor rover, glad I packed plenty of power for it. It can make about 10km without having to stop and wait for the sun to come back out. (I guess I'm not exactly on the pole or the sun would stay out?) In the background of this screenshot you can see my little "oopsie" from when I brought the first 3 Kerbals in. Retrieved the module from about 10km away and brought it right up to the base then as I was turning around to dock it I went into reverse and tipped the whole thing over on its end, rover and all. I tried to use the landing legs + SAS to right it but it just wasn't happening and the command module popped off the large SAS which was still connected to the rover. I was able to get the rover + SAS unit rightside up and my Kerbals were fine of course, didn't even have to roll the command module.

Closeup of my, um, miscalculation.
