What did you do in KSP1 today?

I've been playing this game since 0.19 and today, thanks to 0.90 and the integration of Fine Print contracts, I did something very basic that I have never, ever even tried: I put a station into solar orbit complete with a crew of five foolhardy - er, "brave" - crewmen! Cost almost 85K in Funds but returned me over 150K and over 250 Science, plus the Science I obtained from EVA and crew reports in solar orbit.

@ Necro

Those are very impressive... Are there any tutorials out there on how to make my own parts? I have very little experience with Blender (and none with Unity) but it looks really fun...

Actually there are quite a few over in the add-on development section of the forum. Some of the video tutorials in there are pretty good, and that's how I got started. You can figure out a lot by copying stock part configs and so on, and most of the details you need for Unity and Blender are covered in various tutorials and forum threads.

Good, cause I think I`m going to work on a mod that`s (eventually) going to be the Soviet equivilent to Frizzank`s FASA mod...

I like this screen shot so I placed it as my desk top background.

A clearer version with attachments to complement a long mission is below.

Down loaded the KSP .90 version so I will be looking at that soon.

Not sure what I am looking at in the first picture-- too dark!-- but the second one looks awesome! Kinda makes me think of a casino that Lando would have visited! :P

What did I do today?

After launching a space tractor/tug to my space station, and practising some orbital docking procedures on both sides of the tug, I transferred it to Mun to bring back an orbital science lab that has been without fuel for a few in game months.

After docking, transferring resources and setting up for the burn to return back to Kerbin, I warped time up a bit to get to the burn node, and got bitten by Kraken.

F9, last save was on my mid course correction to Mun. Warp. Kraken.

Rinse, repeat.

I gave up after 5 explosions. Its nearly 4AM. I'll try again later!

I started making some Christmas-ie things for some reason. My tree looks better when it is flashing but here is a pic anyways, I still have one other thing I want to make yet though.

I will have a video of things once I am sure they look good, might be done by Spring LOL.

I started playing the career mode (moderate, no science experiments, with FAR and DRE) for the first time since the early days of 0.24. After a few routine missions, I took a rescue mission, which turned out to be easier than I expected. Matching orbits visually was tedious but kind of fun. At one point, when I thought that I was still far from having a close encounter, I turned off the map display and realized that the target was just 6 km away. I guess I'm too used to the greater precision required in the 6.4x Kerbol System.

DRE is also quite forgiving with the smaller planets, as things like this can make the reentry safely.

I put a menorah on Mun, since there is too much smoke on the launch pad.

And Bill, Bob, and Jeb (from left, center, and right) set up their Tinker tree and were amazed by the blinking lights, well except Bob who had a seizure....

@Liowen: That's amazing! So shiny. :)

Thanks. :) I need to record it though since the aviation lights really cannot be done justice. I want to put it on the VAB, but I do not know the latitude and longitude of it off hand .

I pulled off a double station-deploy contract.

I picked up a contract to put a space station around Kerbin and a station on Minmus, decided to combine the two and built this beauty.

After a simple three orbits as the Kerbin Orbital Station, the money was shilled out and Lubro stole the thing away to Minmus so we could get paid a second time.

Still in 0.25; down to six mods yet to be updated with only one of them "critical" (LoadOnDemand). Not holding out hope for an NRAP update ever.

Yesterday was a busy day - I put a Class B in an 300x100 orbit of Kerbin (didn't have enough delta-V left to get it down to 100x100 or I would've), blew up a rocket on purpose (thanks to Xacktar and his design for a self-destruct contraption), launched a space station core and landed six Kerbals on Duna. All for the Kadvent Kalendar. I'm almost caught up with the challenge (finally) - just need to do some experiments on Duna and head home. And then do the Dec 21st challenge if it's up.

* Designed a two-part manned ship for Duna: Lander, and interplanetary transport.

* Launched both parts (after several tries, of course).

* The arrangement has opposing engines after docking, forgot to turn off lander's engines, wasted some fuel, oops . . .

* Turns out my lander design is top heavy, landed at an angle and was very scared that it would top over while on EVA.

* The lander's lowest stage blows up when I stage it, leaving me with a single solar panel.

* Almost forgot to fulfill the contract requirement of doing science while in orbit around Duna, a quick EVA fixed that.

* Lander was set as the part to control from, which meant my spacecraft was pointed in the wrong direction when I attempted a major burn . . .

* . . . which lead me right into Duna's atmosphere where the game promptly autosaved!

* . . . which I was able to recover from, but left my fuel situation in a questionable state.

* Thank goodness for aerobraking at Kerbin.

* Didn't have an antenna, and the last stage was just the splashdown capsule, so I have to EVA to grab the science from the rest of the lander.

* Mission success! Was able to recover the capsule and fulfill all contract requirements.
