[0.90] Procedural Dynamics - Procedural Wing 0.9.3 Dec 24

Dale Gribble, great replica of this SR-71, and thanks for praise. Well, you show us something really fast, now I show something really slow.

Fokker Dr.1

...

This is my first replica, where glass panels are not necessary. But DYJ, please, in all my other projects I really, really need these procedural glass...

That's very nice! How did you color the wings? Was that Kerbpaint plugin you used to do that? I've made a few stunt planes using firespitter and procedural wings that turned out well but that tops what I can do! Nice.

Yes StevenJ, this is old good Kerbpaint. Let me give you small advice, throw away firespitter, KAX is hundreds times better.

Nah KAX adds a lot of good stuff for firespitter but I'd miss all the extra bi plane landing gear firespitter adds plus in the new experimental version of firespitter you can adjust how many props you want on your engine, the rpm, and power output which is awesome.

Anyone else having issues with some of the parts in this mod?

I was having issues in my main game, so I create a copy of KSP with just NEAR and this mod and I'm getting all sorts of errors and bugs.

There is absolutely no reason why this should work with NEAR, it currently only supports vanilla and FAR.

Ah, well that would explain my issues. Thanks for the quick response.

**edit** Found a thread about this further upstream. Strongly swept wing and CoL issue. My wing base has severe rake. Disregard below.

Anyone seen weird control surface issues with CoL? Built a B9 replishuttle and my CoL/CoM was close, attached Pcontrol surfaces and the CoL dropped to the very back of the ship. With B9 CS though it looks about perfect. Here's the weird thing, though: It flew more or less like I was planning. If it's just an indicator display issue I can just work around/ignore it.

After wondering why I could only paint some of this modpack with KerbPaint, I fixed the problem and made some shader maps that followed the design scheme of the parts I could. I've posted links to this and a couple of other packs in the KerbPaint thread, here.

I'm not Scott Manley, but fly safe anyway.

So...

0.24.1 introduced procedural cost support to KSP, and since that time both ProceduralFairings and RealChutes have added procedural costs for Career Mode, and Procedural Parts is working on it...

Is this being worked on for Procedural Dynamics as well?

Regards,

Northstar

Would it be possible to re-texture the wings, and make the upper surfaces into solar panels? I kind of want to make an electric propeller driven plane that has a massive L/D ratio, but don't want to have to "wallpaper" the upper surface in solar panels (both because of effort, and part count)

I think you can wall paper it in like ksp 0.23 and use Ubizor weldit, then transfer the part file over to 0.24.2.

Is NEAR support planned for a future update?

^What he said. :) The only reason I'm not using this yet is that reason. I can't deal with stock aero in ksp, but FAR is a bit more than I'm willing to fuss with... so NEAR is perfect. If this gets NEAR support, I'll definitely be using it.

procedural dynamics seems to hate me running v.24.2 32 bit is there a fix for this?

Hate it how? can you get anymore specific?

I might add NEAR support in the future, but in the meantime I suggest you give FAR a try it's not nearly as menacing as people make it out to be.

@DYJ

I've been receiving Null Reference Errors when trying to connect the procedural wings basic control surface to any wings whether they are stock, B9 or procedural etc. These in turn hang the SPH but do not cause a ctd or error log. The Debug menu shows many lines of null reference errors due to the aformementioned part (am at work atm, will be able to post pictures of the debug log later if needed).

I am using other mods, but none that I would believe incompatible. Here is my Gamedata folder:

1xNrx6Z.png

Thanks again for the great mod, lowering my part count and making my space planes look all the more beautiful!

Funkeh,

Welcome to the forums!

There is one helpful log that's always generated by KSP. It should show what part of the program is causing those Null Reference Exceptions, though the Windows 64-bit version doesn't always show that correctly.

Cause the problem, then quit KSP and find your output log:

  • Windows (32 bit): KSP_win\KSP_Data\output_log.txt
  • Windows (64 bit): KSP_win64\KSP_x64_DATA\output_log.txt
  • Mac OS X: Open Console, find Unity on the left side, and click on Player.log. It's also located at ~/Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log.
  • Linux: ~/.config/unity3d/Squad/Kerbal\ Space\ Program/Player.log
