This has been a test of the Kerbal Escape System(tm)

Sometimes you want to get off of your rocket and get back to Kerbin in one piece. It might be an explosion, an uncontrollable spin, or even just wanting to get back to Kerbin safely from orbit without all that heavy rocket baggage coming with you. To that end, I present the Kerbal Escape System! This comfy little four-seater can get you from a pretty decent height right on back to terra firma without too much trauma. Or at least, that's what KSP Mission Control is hoping! Today (okay, technically it's night when they did the tests), they find out if it really works.

Bob Kerman generously offered to test this system out for us. He's a very generous Kerbal. It also helps that we paid him $20 extra.

Getting up to testing altitude! Bob appears to be having 673rd thoughts about this now.

Deployment! So far he's survived the trauma surprisingly well.

Drogue and drag deployment went off without a hitch, and Bob Kerman didn't even get dislodged!

His relief is apparent as he sets foot once more on the ground. Future tests will reportedly involve four Kerbals at once, "to see what happens". Bob has opted out of these tests.*

* - KSP Mission Control has the right to veto all opt-out clauses on a whim, "just 'cause", meaning Bob will almost certainly be part of those tests anyway.
