Kerbal songs with sing-a-long lyrics!

NetZer0

Recommended Posts

Well, every Kerbal scientist (= you!) building space vessels and sending them into unknown terrain needs some songs to sing along with whilst doing daily work. So I took some Earth's songs and made them more Kerbalish! Maybe you'd like to contribute for the database of real Kerbal songs!

I want to give you an example. If it doesn't always make sense, I'd like to apologize. English is not my native language. ;) But I think you will get it. If you have more skills and it even rhymes, the better! :D

Ah damn, maybe someone even has the courage to bring something similar into some form of YouTube-video or so. :)

Space Kerbality (song by David Kerman)

KSC to Major Kerman

KSC to Major Kerman

Take your snacks and put your helmet on

KSC to Major Kerman

Commencing countdown, engines on

Check ignition and may Kod's love be with you [note by NetZer0: Kod = Kerbal God]

Ten, Nine, Eight, Seven, Six, Five,

Four, Three, Two, One, Liftoff

This is KSC to Major Kerman

You've really made the grade

And KNN wants to know whose shirts you wear

Now it's time to leave the capsule if you dare

This is Major Kerman to KSC

I'm stepping through the door

And I'm floating in a most peculiar way

And the stars look very different today [note by NetZer0: Must be a graphics update!! Bwahaha!]

For here

Am I sitting in a tin can

Far above the world

Planet Kerbin is green

And there's nothing I can do

Though I'm past one hundred thousand kilometres

I'm feeling very still

And I think my spaceship knows which way to go

Tell my science officer I love him very much he knows

KSC to Major Kerman

Your circuit's dead, there's something wrong

Can you hear me, Major Kerman?

Can you hear me, Major Kerman?

Can you hear me, Major Kerman?

Can you....

Here am I floating round my tin can

Far above the Mun

Planet Kerbin is blue

And there's nothing I can do.

Just watched the video with Chris Hadfield less than a minute ago. In case anyone is wondering, this is the video I'm talking about and it's awesome:

Now someone should make a video of a Kerbal singing in the Cupola module!

OK, here is one more to get this started:

Rocket Kerbal (song by Elton Kerman)

He packed my bags last night, pre-flight

Zero hour, nine a.m.

And I'm gonna be high as a kite by then

I miss the Kerbin so much, I miss my science toys

It's lonely out in space

On such a timeless flight

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the Kerbal they think I am at home

Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket Kerbal

Rocket Kerbal, burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the Kerbal they think I am at home

Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket Kerbal

Rocket Kerbal, burning out his fuse up here alone

Duna ain't the kind of place to raise your kids

In fact it's cold as hell

And there's no one there to raise them if you did

And all this science, I don't understand

It's just my job five days a week

A rocket Kerbal, a rocket Kerbal

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the Kerbal they think I am at home

Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket Kerbal

Rocket Kerbal, burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time ‘til touch down brings me round again to find I'm not the Kerbal they think I am at home

Oh no, no, no, I'm a rocket Kerbal

Rocket Kerbal, burning out his fuse up here alone

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

And I think it's gonna be a long, long time

I got about 2/3rds the way through this - anyone else is welcome to finish it.

To the tune of

, a Kerbal Space Shanty:

Brave Kerbals we launch with the dawn

Way, ay, launch an' go!

Our ship and our spacesuits are all from the pawn

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Fire the stage, oh, fire away,

Way, ay, burn an' go!

The fuel is on board an' the snacks's are all stored,

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Soon'll be warpin' her out through the void,

Way, ay, burn an' go!

Don't burn 'er for too long or we'll be unemployed

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Fire the stage, oh, fire away,

Way, ay, burn an' go!

There's capstan on board what the hell is that for?

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Now we turn and head for the Mun

Way 'ay burn an' go!

Or Minmus maybe if we fi-re too soon

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Fire the stage, oh, fire away,

Way, ay, burn an' go!

The fuel has run low an' we've miles to go

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Against all odds we have intercept

Way ay, burn an' go!

But the lander construction's completely inept

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

Fire the stage, oh, fire away,

Way, ay, burn an' go!

There's no map on board and the cap'ns got bored

On the Rocketship Randy Dandy O!

One I made for another thread that has since slipped into obscurity:

Ninety-Nine Lander-Cans over the Mun (traditional)

Ninety-nine lander-cans over the Mun,

Ninety-nine lander-cans crewed!

Take one down, crash to the ground,

Ninety eight lander-cans over the Mun!

(Repeat until the count reaches zero, or until the Mission Commander threatens to throw you out the airlock.)

Something more modern...

(Sung to tune of Daft Punk's new single, "Get Lucky")

(if you're not familiar with the song, familiarize yourself first:

Like the legend of the phoenix

Jeb's crashes are beginnings

What keeps our Kerbin spinning

The will to keep repeating

Jeb's, come too far

To give up, chance to soar

So let's, clear the pad

And now launch, to the stars!

Jeb's up all night 'til the sun

I'm up all night 'til my burn

Jeb's up all night 'til he burns

I'm up all night till we get lucky

We're up all night for good fun

We're up all night to get some

We're up all night for good fun

We're up all night to get lucky (x5)

You finally got to orbit

Above the planet Kerbin

So now where are we goin'?

If you want to leave, I'm wit' it

Jeb's, come too far

To give up, chance to soar

So let's, make the burn

And now coast, to the stars!

Jeb's up all night 'til the sun

I'm up all night 'til my burn

Jeb's up all night 'til the burn

I'm up all night to get lucky

We're up all night for good fun

We're up all night to get some

We're up all night for good fun

We're up all night to get lucky (x5)

I can write one!

Major Jeb - Blasting Home - to the tune of

Standing there alone, the ship is waiting

All systems are go, are you sure?

Control is not convinced

But the new Mechjeb has the evidence

No need to abort

The countdown starts.

Watching in a trance

Jeb is so certain

Nothing left to chance, all is working

Ready to ignite, all anxious waiting

"Blast me to Eeloo", jokes Major Jeb

He'll soon be dead...

4, 3, 2, 1

Kerbin's floating, spinning flying

Jeb's igniting, SRB's blast home

Second stage is cut, he's now in orbit

SAS is up, attitude right

Starting to project, maneuver node up

What will it affect, when stages shed

Thinks Major Jeb

In the main control, there is a problem

Go to rockets full, not responding

No power is left, energy leaving

Where is that Kerbol, Jeb's anxious now...

There's no way out...

4, 3, 2, 1

Kerbin's floating, spinning flying

Jeb's igniting, SRB's blast home

Across the stratosphere

A final message, "Blow my stuff all up"

Then nothing more

Far beneath the ship, the world continues

They no longer care, it's not fair

He is all alone just there waiting

He's a drama queen, it'll turn back on

When morning comes

Kerbin's floating, spinning flying

Jeb's igniting, SRB's blast home

Kerbin's floating, spinning flying

Jeb's igniting, SRB's blast home

Kerbin's floating, spinning flying

Jeb's igniting, SRB's blast home

With apologies to Kenny Rogers and Don Schlitz (sung to The Gambler)

On a warm summer’s evening sat a rocket bound for nowhere

I met up with a Kerbal we we’re both real tired and cheap

So we took turns a staring at the blueprint held up backwards

Our slide rules both were broken and he began to speak.

He said, “Son I made a life, out of read Kerbal faces

and knowing what the yaw was by the way they held their eyes.

So if you don’t mind me saying, that to get this thing in space is,

gonna take some thinking or it might cost Jeb his life.â€Â

So I handed him my throttle and he hammered on my model

then he added SRBs and a big round landing light

And the night got deathly quiet and we watched their three expressions

“If you’re going to launch a rocket, it must be out of sight.â€Â

You got to know when to hold them, know when to roll them

Know when to fly away, know when to run.

You never count your Kerbals, ‘til the end of the mission

Cause getting there in one piece is only half the fun.

“Now every Kerbal knows, that the secret to surviving

Is hiding in the barracks and pretending you’re asleep

Not every rides a winner, and most of them are losers

And the best you can hope for is the impact angle’s steep.â€Â

So when he finished speaking, he glanced at the launch window

Set down the space tape roll and listened for a creak.

Then up in to the darkness, the Kerbals they went flying

But in their fading screams I found some wisdom I could keep.

You got to know when to hold them, know when to roll them

Know when to fly away, know when to run.

You never count your Kerbal, ‘til the end of the mission

Cause getting there in one piece is only half the fun.

So I decide to complete it, don't kick me:D

Covered from So Many Wonders, sung by Andrea Libman.

What is this place

filled with so many screwed pods?

Casting its smoke

That I am now under

Parts of the struct

and the cute little engines

Tanks rolling free

and Kerbals with their helmets

Heeeeellmmeeeeeeeets!

Oooh, what a magical place

and I owe it all to the Kerpollo crash

If I knew the soil had so much up its sleeve

I'd have land here sooner, and never leave

Yes, I love every paaaaaarts!

(In the background a heavy skycrane with a part of Mun base is crashing hard)

Big yellow spacecraft...

Bill Bob and Jeb prepare for a rocket launch. An orang tank, a mainsail prepared for a Mun shot.

Don't it always seem to go... the countdown starts at 10 than yure off... Bill Bob and Jeb prepare for a rocket launch.

Take all the SRBs put them in an SRB museum... and we could charge Jeb a dollar and a half just to see them

Dont it always seem to go...

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

Early in the Space flight?

REFRAIN

Hooray, we have lift off!

Hooray, we have lift off!

Hooray, we have lift off!

Early in the Space flight

Put him in the rocket until he’s sober

Put him in the rocket until he’s sober

Put him in the rocket until he’s sober

Early in the morning

(repeat REFRAIN)

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

Early in the space flight

(repeat REFRAIN)

Pull out the plug and wet him all over

Pull out the plug and wet him all over

Pull out the plug and wet him all over

Early in the space flight

(repeat REFRAIN)

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

What shall we do with the drunken kerbal?

Early in the Space flight?

(repeat REFRAIN)

Put him in the scuppers with the deck hose on him!

Put him in the scuppers with the deck hose on him!

Put him in the scuppers with the deck hose on him!

Early in the Space flight

(repeat REFRAIN)

I can't really think of how to change the over verses so your suggestions would be great.

This'll give ya a good idea of how to sing t. It won't last as long as the verses:

Come all ye young fellows that flies up in space

To me, way hey, blow the man up

Pay attention to me and all things will be ace

Oh give us some time to blow the man up

I'm a deep space pilot just come from out there

I would've stayed longer but I ran out of air

When a trim Black Ball liner's preparing for flight

On a trim Black Ball liner I wasted me prime

When a trim Black Ball liner explodin' the pad

You'll split your sides laughing such sights you would see

There's tinkers, programmers, KIG welders and all

They all serve our pilots aboard the Black Ball

When a big Black Ball liner's a-leaving her dock

The boys and the girls to the crowd they do flock

Now, when the big liner, she's cleared of land

Our bosun he roars out the word of command

Come quickly, lay aft to repack that damn chute

Or I'll help you along with the toe of me boot

Pay attention to orders, now, you one and all

For see high above there flies the Black Ball

'Tis larboard and starboard, In seat you will sprawl

For kicking Jeb Kerman commands the Black Ball

The jet it flames out, and it flames out again

Call up some people; warn of fiery rain

Then all our hands will bundle ashore

Perhaps some will never to space go more

After reading NetZero's lyrics, I was inspired to make a version of this song. I did some changes to the lyrics, so they are better singable but it's still the same idea.

It's on Soundcloud.

This is pretty awesome. I may have tom play it whenever flying with Jeb, or even better, have Jeb sitting on top of a space station...

3mf6HNu.png I see the bad mun arising.

I see Kerbals screaming all the way.

I see rendered land and lightin'.

I see bad flights today.

Don't go up tonight,

Well, it's bound to take your life,

There's a bad mun on the rise.

I hear ASAS is a-blowing.

I know the end is coming soon.

I fear boosters all exploding.

I hear the voice of Jeb and ruin.

Don't go up tonight,

Well, it's bound to take your life,

There's a bad mun on the rise.

All right!

Hope you got your things together.

Hope you are quite prepared to die.

Looks like the devs have left out weather.

But one eye is taken for an eye.

Don't go up tonight,

Well, it's bound to take your life,

There's a bad mun on the rise.

Don't go up tonight,

Well, it's bound to take your life,

There's a bad mun on the rise.3mf6HNu.png

W00000t!! No way! Hahahaha, this is so awesome and cool and strange and funny and pure genius in one!

Great work, Lordherrmann! :D

Now I'm feeling like there's a need to make a video out of this.... Of all the times for me to feel extremely creative...

I'm totally endorsing this!

It's pretty bad compared to some of the stuff everyone else has come up with, but here's my 'attempt' :P

I think the bits that are supposed to rhyme still do properly...I had to redo the first verse about 6 times trying to come up with two sentences which made sense and still worked right.

Final Countdown, Europe:

We're leaving with Jeb now

We left home with haste

The Mun is over there

Our rocket is braced

The pieces are shaking apart

We need more struts

I don't think this thing can last the flight

It's a flight to the Mun

A flight to the Mun

So, we're heading for the Mun (the Mun)

with lots of spare fuel

Our engines are burning

and falling apart, er...

With so many miles to fly

And no hope at all (hope at all)

I'm sure that we're all doomed to die

It's a flight to the Mun

A flight to the Mun

A flight to the Mun (flight to the Mun)

Oh...Oh

[insert video of rockets exploding on the Mun accompanied by F.C solo]

A flight to the Mun

Oh...oh

It's a flight to the Mun

A flight to the Mun

A flight to the Mun (A flight to the Mun)

It's a flight to the Mun

We're leaving forever

A flight to the Mun

The engine is gone

It's the final descent (without power)

*Rocket crashes into the Mun*

To the tune of Blowin' in the wind, by Bob Dylan

How many space-planes must be ditched in the Sea, before one finally makes orbit?

How many times must moho be flown-by, before she sleeps in orbit?

How many times must debris be created, before it is forever banned?

The answer, my friend, is flowin' in the sands, the answer is flowin' in the fuel

How many years must a journey take, before ther Kerbals can see Laythe?

How many years must a station crew endure, before they are finally replaced?

Yes, and how may times must a flag be planted, before my desire is fufilled?

The answer my freind, is blowins in the mainsail, the answer is blowin' in the mainsail.

How many times must a kerbal look up, before he enters orbit?

How many ears must a kerbal have, before he hears the engines?

How many deaths will it take til' he knows, to many Kerbals have exploded?

The answer my friend, is flowin' in the fuel, the answer is flowin' in the fuel"

That was Ark ward, personally I consider that sacrilege on a holy object.

Imagine by John Lennon

Imagine there's no budget

It's easy if you try

Lots of fuel below us

Above us only sky

Imagine all the kerbals

Living for today...

Imagine there's no borders

It isn't hard to do

Nothing you wouldn’t fly to

Maybe to Duna, too

Imagine all the kerbals

Living life for space...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will be as one

Imagine no SAS

I wonder if you can

No need for stable rockets

A brotherhood of Jeb

Imagine all the kerbals

Sharing all the world...

You may say I'm a dreamer

But I'm not the only one

I hope someday you'll join us

And the world will live as one

By the way: Thanks for liking my song
