Transport Tycoon Deluxe sort of has that, there's a variable economy which affects loan interest and businesses in the game world (market crashes can really screw things up since a lot of businesses will close, leaving you with nothing to deliver or nowhere to deliver it to), but it's not really a business sim. There's an opensource remake of it available if you want to try it though http://www.openttd.org/en/

I've heard the Railroad Tycoon games are good, though I haven't played them. Unfortunately I don't think any of them are (legally) available for free download, but I'd highly advise you check them out nonetheless.

EDIT: And here's where I totally miss you already mentioned the Tycoon games... The Tropico series has the same sort of idea, too, although it's less "business" and more "banana republic." You could certainly pretend you owed your job to the United Fruit Company, though...

There was a game called Capitalism that was pretty interesting. http://www.amazon.com/Enlight-Entertainment-Europe-Ltd-Capitalism/dp/B008K4A2II/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1370038572&sr=1-1&keywords=capitalism+2 There were several dozen products you could collect as raw materials, turn into products in factories, and sell in stores. You also had to setup product flows in your facilities, and you could try to take over other companies or even sell your own.

I have to say Openttd is a lot of fun, Not for everyone but you can make enormously complex networks with it. I also found it exactly a year before I found out about KSP.
