KASDA mission log | 140 (Part 2): Vall probe landing

Recommended Posts

Missions 101+102+103: Hope Base 1c, 1d, and 1e (note: retroactively named MIKU-03 through 05 for Mobile Interplanetary Kolonization Unit)

Description & objective: Expansions to the Minmus base: 1c and 1d are habitation modules with small solar arrays; 1e is a science lab with large solar arrays. 1c also utilized the Kerbal Inventory System to carry small radiators that would improve the thermal efficiency of the WiM-2 mining vehicle. It was determined that 3 kerbals per Omnibus crew container (max 8 kerbals) was sufficient for long-term habitation [i.e. looking like a proper base], so 6 more Kerbals will be launched to Minmus for a total population of 12.

Mass:

Hope Base 1c (MIKU-03): 8813 kg (18991 kg with tug)
Hope Base 1d (MIKU-04): 8573 kg (18751 kg with tug)
Hope Base 1e (MIKU-05): 9270 kg (19786 kg with tug)

Launch vehicle: Kappa-1a

Launch dates:

Year 29, Day 380 (Hope Base 1c)
Year 29, Day 387 (Hope Base 1d)
Year 29, Day 396 (Hope Base 1e)

Those are certainly some "high visibility" rockets and rovers you have there! :D It's good to see a mission log that covers such a long period of (rl) time.

Mission 124-126: Hope Base 2c + 2d + 2e (note: retroactively named to MIKU-08 through 10 for Mobile Interplanetary Kolonization Unit)

Description & objective: 2 Munar habitation modules (2c and 2e) + 1 lab module (2d) as an expansion to Hope Base 2. Note that due to the lack of clearance on the original module (2a) to dock on the side, the additional central node module had to be launched early with solar panels located at a higher position. Another issue is the base sliding across the Munar surface: this is planned to be resolved using KIS/KAS winches and grappling hooks.

Mass: (at launch/wet mass)
Hope Base 2c and 2e (MIKU-08 and 09) (each): 18283 kg/29483 kg
Hope Base 2d (MIKU-10): 18605 kg/29805 kg

Launch vehicle: Kappa-1a

Y33, D113 (Hope Base 2c launch - landed D115)

Description & objective: Launching the Ike lander back to the main interplanetary vehicle, then returning to Kerbin.

(Important notice) The decision was made to rename the lander "Duna Rabbit 2" for future re-use. (the lander used to land the first Kerbals on Duna was retroactively named "Duna Rabbit 1")

Missions 130-133: Negi Maru

Description & objective: A next-generation interplanetary mothership, composed of four modules: habitation, cargo, a tank, and an engine. Mass (at launch):

Negi Maru habitation module: 26410 kg
Negi Maru cargo module: 17040 kg (42040 kg full)
Negi Maru tank module: 17800 kg (117800 kg full)
Negi Maru propulsion module: 29220 kg (partial, 39220 kg full)

Total mass when full: 225470 kg

Launch vehicle: Kappa-1b (36 tonnes to LKO, 3 mainsails on first stage, 1 mainsail on second stage)

Launch dates:

Y33, D280 (Negi Maru habitation module)
Y33, D310 (Negi Maru cargo module)
Y33, D339 (Negi Maru tank module)

You can use both, but I think you would need to use hyper edit to make sure the orbits don’t cross.

example: sarvin to sarnus l5 point and keelon to Urlum l5 point.

And maybe Asclepius and trans keptunian

For challenges Sentar expansion

And maybe opm extended currently being worked on by me and some other people

But I don't want a too-crowded Kerbol system.
