Have you thought about building doors that close? I'm not sure how, perhaps landing legs would work.

It's a shame the structural pylons got nerfed.

I've tried re-attaching doors, but they always glitch when I redock them.

The first versions of the Shuttle had re-attaching doors:

I decided to make a Dragon-like microship.

PRECISELY 3.25 tons, as well... (The name isn't the final one....)

And another shot of her on the surface, so you can get a closer look...

I didn't show it in any of the pictures, but she sports a Jr. docking port on the bottom, so she could hypothetically be airlifted back to KSC, refueled, then relaunched. I currently have a 2-stage lifter, basically the second-largest tank with a probe core and 2 aerospikes, with 2 large SRBs on the sides, to take her up. The 2-aerospike thing is really rated for about ~2.5 tons to LKO, so I have the SRBs to help. Here's a picture of that:

He's talking about which version of the Falcon 9 to use. 1.0 is the original and uses 9 engines in a 3x3 square. 1.1 is the updated version and has 1 engine in the middle surrounded by 8 in a circle.
