In this thread, I ask that you post links to websites that have flag generators--or free to use flag generating programs.

(Illegal torrents to a normally paid-for program do not count as free, and might earn you a forum ban, so don't do it.)

http://www.wordle.net/ (Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide, which can make neat flags.)

Gimp is your friend!

When setting up to crop & scale an image for your flag, I suggest using the rectangle select tool. Lock the aspect ratio, and put in either 256:160 or 160:256 (depending on if you want the crop window horizontal or vertical. Remember to transform the image to horizontal before saving

You may want to do an unsharp mask before scaling, and recall that simple = better as those small details will turn to mud.

Even better, do the work in something like inkscape first!

This may not complytly count since its not an "official" flag maker but wordle.net/ makes pictures out of words but you would need to scale it in separate app.
