KSP Wiki Campaign

A few days ago my eye fell at a post about a campaign found at the wiki site that is similar to the Gemini missions and i thought to check them out and play them. I was surprised to find that there are 5 campaigns (http://wiki.kerbalspaceprogram.com/wiki/Campaigns) and i said to implement them before the campaign mode is released. At the following posts i will present the missions form each campaign as i complete them along with a few comments

Campaign: Age of Rocketry

Introduction

Several thousand years ago, the Kerbese invented solid fuel rockets for their firework displays. Later, the Kerbins invented the K2 rocket capable of landing a relatively unguided liquid fuel rocket on an island across the side of the ocean, terrorizing the local fauna. Robert Kerbin then invented the liquid fueled rocket. Help each group maintain their progress toward the goal of a liquid fueled two stage rocket capable of reaching 70,000m, the beginning of space.

Missions

Solid Fuel Rocketry

Launch RT-10 Solid Fuel Booster Rocket Part I

Must be unmanned

Must have nosecone.

Simple mission for the tech guys at KSC. They stuffed a long tube with as much black exploding powder they could find and named it SR-10 rocket. They placed the rocket at the launch pad and fired it straight up so they can see how high it can reach.

During launch long range cameras recorded some unusual effects, they named them sonic boom and atmospheric heat.

After the rocket ran out of fuel the technicians realized that the rocket was heading at their installations, panicked Kerbals were running for their lives but luckily the rocket crashed a few km west of KSC.

Launch RT-10 Solid Fuel Booster Rocket Part II

Must be unmanned

Must have nosecone.

Must static fire for 2 seconds or more before liftoff.

After the last disastrous launch the scientists decided to clamp the rocket before launch in order to avoid any similar incidents and adjusted the rocket to fle east to the sea, they performed a stress test on the newly constructed clamps by firing the rocket. At release the rocket headed east of the KSC and splashed at the sea.

Launch Two-Stage Solid Fuel Rocket

Must be unmanned

Must be successfully retrieved...aka have a parachute.

"Ok. Lesson learned we need to do something about these things flying with no control and landing so fast is very dangerous for the rocket. Let's strap on the rocket one of these parachutes we found lying at the side of the road, that way we can salvage it and do more tests".

These were the lines of Werner Von Kerman and the technicians got to work strapping parachutes to SRB's. They immediately raced to the launch pad and launched the rocket. When the rocket ran out of fuel and started falling the parachute opened ever so slightly so that it will slow down the rocket and at 500m it was fully deployed. After splash down, recovery teams recovered the rocket and everybody were happy that they could use parachutes for their future rocket designs.

Liquid Fuel Rocketry

Launch LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket Eastwards

Must be unmanned.

Must have nosecone or parachute.

Land that thing in the ocean lest you worry the Kerbiets.

The Kerbals developed a new kind of fuel, it's a liquid. It's flammable, easy to store and has lots of power to use at rockets. In order to use it they developed a new engine, the LVT-30. They strapped a fuel tank and a parachute and went for the launch pad. But these test have drawn the attention of the Kerbiets who don't see very kindly these rockets landing accidentally at their homes. Form now on the landing will be made at sea as the staff was informed my upper management.

The first launch of the LR-1 II was a complete failure as it had no control, furthermore once the mission controller cut the engine and opened the parachute the engine was literally cut off form the rocket. Back to drawing board guys.

The tech guys after a few failed launches and after banging their heads they came up with the LR-1 aka K1 rocket, it has a larger fuel tank in order to increase weight since the engine is too powerful for the small fuel tank of the LR-1 II. It is also equipped with a sturdier parachute to avoid any unscheduled part dis-assembly. Also they added some wings for greater control and stability and raced to the launch pad. The launch was a complete success and everybody were cheering wildly.

Launch Two-Stage LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket and Maintain 45 degrees Eastwards after 10,000m

Must be unmanned.

Must have nosecone or parachute.

After your rocket goes above 70,000m you will reach space at this point and the music will play celebrating your accomplishment.

Following their previous successes launch the scientists discovered that if the rocket is tilted at 45 degrees above 10km it can go longer and higher. So they programmed another launch. This time the rocket will tilt 45 degrees at 10km and will monitor how high it can go. They were jumping and screaming when they saw at their monitors that with this flight behavior the rocket reached 120km high. THAT'S SPACE. The staff recorded the descent of the rocket and saw that the phenomenon they noticed during the ascent also appears during descent. It didn't cause any problems to the the rocket but they will be recording future occurrences of this effect.

K2 Rocket

Those pesky Kermans...

Launch LVT-30 Liquid Fuel Rocket and control its reentry point.

Missile must go above 70km.

Missile must land near a pre-selected island of your choosing.

New guys are in town, more precisely at KSC. The Kermian scientists watched the previous launch and they said at KSC staff that they could help to build and fly a better rocket that can go higher and longer than the K1 rocket, also they could control the rocket and land it near the SW islands across the ocean where KSC lies. The K2 rocket has a larger tank along with a battery since electric power was dropping rapidly at the last launch. The launch was a complete success. the rocket splashed near the island terrorizing the local fauna.

Campaign: Space Race

The Age of Rocketry sparked the imaginations of Kerbals everywhere. What was once a dream was becoming reality. The race was on to put the first things into orbit. Robert Kerbin and his intrepid Kerbicans aimed to launch the first Kerbal-made object into Kerbin orbit... that is, until the Kerbiets behind their Iron Kertain launched their Stayputnik into orbit. The Space Race had begun! Not to be outdone, the great Robert Kerbin with his new Kerbal Space Program planned to get the first man into space... but they were outdone yet again by the Kerbiets. But in the end, the Kerbal Space Program would have the final word and launch the first Kerbal into a sustained orbit around Kerbin and bring him back safely. His legacy, the Kerbal Space Program, would come to dominate the Space Race from that point forward, but not without its share of semi-expendable half-volunteered core of Kerbonaughts sacrificing their lives for the scientific good of all Kerbalkind as it began its race to the Mun.

This campaign is designed to present you with a mission manifest that will allow you to accomplish the final goal of reliably launching the Stayputnik satellite into orbit, and your first manned orbit and safe return.

Missions

Stayputnik, the First Satellite

Launch a Two-Stage Liquid Fuel Rocket into Orbit with a Satellite or Stayputnik 1

Must contain at least 3 Communotron 16 antennas.

Antennas must deploy fully manually.

Must contain enough battery juice to broadcast for a full orbit.

(Tip: as your launches become more complex, it's usually a good idea to test them out in the sandbox to make sure your staging is set correctly.)

Thing at Kerbin are getting hot. The Koviet leader Nikita Kerman annoyed by the fact that they Koviets were never asked to join the space program decided to start their own space program in secret. The efforts of the Koviet scientists resulted in the making of Stayputnik. An artificial satellite that has the potential of establishing an orbit. The launch was made under heave secrecy and once the satellite was finally in orbit it deployed its antennae and started sending beeping radio signals at Kerbin to make its presence known before its decaying orbit lead it to destruction into Kerbin (Ended flight). This has been a great victory for the Koviet people.

Uri Kerban, the First Kerbal in Space

Launch a Kerbal into an Orbital Flight with a Apoapsis greater than 70,000m and Safe Return

Must complete one orbit.

Kerbal must return safely. This is assumed for all future missions going forward unless otherwise specified as you don't want to scare off volunteers, especially this early in the space program.

Must land in water (to avoid political issues).

Following the great success of Stayputnik the Koviet scientists developed the Koyouz II with the ability to send a Kerbal into orbit. The name of the unfort...erm lucky Kerbal to go into orbit is Uri Kerman. The launch and return was a success hitting another major blow at the Kerbals back at KSC.

Project Moho: Alan Kerban, the First Kerbal to Control His Orbit

Launch a Kerbal into an Orbital Flight with a Periapsis greater than 70,000m and Safe Return

Must complete 11 orbits.

Must land in water near the Kerbal Space Center.

With their morale having a big blow the scientists and technicians back at KSC raced to place their own Kerbalnaut in orbit. The name of this pioneer is Alan Kerman riding the Kercury rocket, named after the ancient god of messaging. The launch went without any problems except the fact the Alan was screaming all the way to orbit. When Alan was asked about that, if he was horrified or extremely happy, after his return his answer was "Yes". The boys at KSC ordered Alan to perform 11 orbits in order to study how Kerbal anatomy functioned with the lack of gravity. After finishing his orbits Alan fired the retro rocket and splashed down near KSC for easy extraction. This will be one of many firsts for the KSC guys.

Campaign: Age of Satellites

Introduction

The Space Race was still on. Robert Kerbin and his Kerbal Space Program realized that getting to the Mun would require learning several things first. There were immediate requests from Kerbal media to follow up on an idea to put a communications satellite into orbit. Finally young Kerbans in Kerbiet territories could watch Kerbican Dance TV without censorship. Both countries realized the potential of satellites and sought to put up spy satellites so they could see what the other leader was having for breakfast. Finally, the scientists who were in charge of the whole operation decided to go on strike until their respective governments would allow them to put up "more useful" satellites for scientific purposes...such as mapping Kerbin in all its beauty, and to track the weather. Since the weather never changes on Kerbin yet, the scientists conceded the point and opted to just get a mapping satellite up.

This campaign is designed to present you with a mission manifest that will allow you to accomplish the final goal of putting into practice a number of orbital maneuvers prior to your adventure into space with live Kerbal volunteers. Besides, once you complete this campaign, you will have a nice constellation of satellites perfect for any fledgling space program aiming to study, orbit, and eventually land on the Mun and beyond. At the very least Jeb, put the communication sats up for grief's sake.

Missions

OrbitSat

Launch a self-sustaining test satellite into a 300km Circularized Orbit

Satellites, and all remaining satellites in the Space Program must now be self-sustaining. This probably means using solar panels or generators.

You must first establish a parking orbit near 100km, orbit once, after which you must then transfer your orbit to 300km.

You must use at least one maneuvering node, preferably when trying to establish your orbit from around 100km to near or on 300km

Your satellite, once deployed must be detached from its lifting body, but it is welcome to use RCS thrusters.

Final Apoapsis and Periapsis must be between 300,000m and 300,999

Now that the race is on, the first test communication satellite was made by KSC technicians in order to reach a 300km orbit from a 100km parking orbit in order to understand how orbital mechanics work. Also this is the perfect chance to test a new kind of technology called solar panels, they have the ability to collect sunlight to turn it in to electrical energy, something like plants do back on Kerbin, who knew? The launch was a complete success and Kerbals across Kerbin can now start watch various TV shows.

ComSat I

Launch a self-sustaining communications satellite into Geostationary Orbit

Satellite must contain a dish antenna.

Satellite must contain at least one Communotron 16 antenna.

Satellite must be directly over the Kerbal Space Center.

Satellite must remain stationary with respect to the ground.

Satellite must have its dish pointing down to the ground at the KSC at high noon.

Satellite must have an average Periapsis and Apoapsis at or near 2,868,750m or 2,868.75km with no greater than 2000km difference.

Satellite must be at 0 degrees inclination. (You can use the Mun for reference since the Mun's orbital plane is also 0 degrees).

(Tip: use a lower orbit to time your insertion into geostationary orbit).

Following the success of OrbitSat KSC decide to start the creation of network of communication satellites that will remain still above a certain region of Kerbin. This orbit is called Kerbostationary orbit and in order to reach it the guys at KSC will reach a lower Kerbostationary orbit with a LV-909 rocket engine and wait for the satellite to align with KSC, after that a smaller rocket will fine-tune the orbit. The mission was a complete success and KSC is ready for the next satellite launch.

ComSat II

Launch a self-sustaining communications satellite into Geostationary Orbit

(Note: your constellation of ComSats, when finished, should all be equidistant in their orbits around Kerbin)

This Satellite must contain a propulsion unit for use with the Space Debris mission below. This heavier top heavy rocket, prior to the invention of SAS modules, may require that your scientists install the new LVT-45 thurst vectoring liquid fueled engine.

Launcher must include two radially mounted solid fuel rocket boosters each with their own recovery system.

Satellite must contain a dish antenna.

Satellite must contain at least one Communotron 16 antenna.

Satellite must be visible with KSC or ComSat I on the horizon.

Satellite must remain stationary with respect to the ground.

Satellite must have its dish pointing toward KSC or a ComSat at Noon.

Satellite must have an average Periapsis and Apoapsis at or near 2,868,750m or 2,868.75km with no greater than 2000km difference.

Satellite must have an orbital inclination of 0 degrees.

The scientists decided to go for a new design of rocket for delivering the second ComSat satellite. This design includes 2 SRB's mounted on the side of the main so they can study its behaviour. Although the launch and delivery of the satellite was a success the atmospheric ascent was a nightmare. Due to the high uncontrolled speed of the SRB's the rocket had a lower fuel consumption and it was difficult for the on board electronics to control the rocket. Maybe the fact that they had a light payload had to do something with this. For the time being the next launches will not include SRB's unless the rocket has a very heavy payload that requires extra thrust. Also they scientists will start designing a new control computer for future rockets for better control at high speeds.

ComSat III

Launch a self-sustaining communications satellite into Geostationary Orbit

(Note: your constellation of ComSats, when finished, should all be equidistant in their orbits around Kerbin)

This Satellite must contain a propulsion unit for use with the Space Debris mission below.

Satellite must contain a dish antenna.

Satellite must contain a dish antenna.

Satellite must be visible with KSC on the horizon.

Satellite must be visible with KSC or ComSat I or ComSat II on the horizon.

Satellite must remain stationary with respect to the ground.

Satellite must have its dish pointing toward KSC or a ComSat at Noon.

Satellite must have an average Periapsis and Apoapsis at or near 2,868,750m or 2,868.75km with no greater than 2000km difference.

Satellite must have an orbital inclination of 0 degrees.

Finally the communications network is complete and the Kerbican TV shows can be broadcasted all over Kerbin furthermore we can use them as a relay network for future satellite missions around Kerbin and for relaying messages from our future target: the Mun

KerbSat I

Launch a self-sustaining weather satellite into Geostationary Orbit

This Satellite must contain a propulsion unit for use with the Space Debris mission below.

Satellite must remain stationary with respect to the ground.

Satellite must contain at least one retractable solar panel.

Satellite must contain weather-like instruments such as thermometer, barometer, and more.

Satellite must be released with a docking port attached to the lifting rocket and not to the satellite for a softer separation than your standard decoupler.

You must set and use an action group to deploy your solar panel(s).

(This satellite is very delicate. If you damage it, Kerbal meteorologists will point to you for why their weather predictions aren't always accurate.)

(Tip: To prevent draining your liquid fueled satellite engine through the docking port with your last stage, before your flight you can turn off the satellite fuel tank ports at the launch pad.)

Upper management wants for KSC to place a weather monitoring satellite at Kerbostationary orbit to monitor the weather of KSC so that we don't have any surprises at our rocket launches, but the fact that weather has not changed for thousands of years on Kerbin is of little interest for them. Anyways the KSC scientists and technicians built a weather satellite with all sorts of scientisty instruments and the launch was a big success. A new part was placed and tested on the rocket, the docking port. This allows for soft deployment for sensitive satellites and it also allows the docking and undocking of rocket parts. It will come in handy for the next program. Also they developed a new type of retractable solar panel that protects the panels during launch from any damage, this has made the scientists very happy but the technicians have placed a big warning sticker at mission control that reads "ALWAYS DEPLOY THE PANELS AFTER ENGINE SHUTDOWN OR THE SATELLITE WILL HAVE NO POWER AND IT WILL BE USELESS".

GeoSat

Launch a self-sustaining ground mapping satellite into a Stable Polar Orbit

Satellite must contain two packaged solar panels.

Satellite must contain a main rover body (to make satellite larger than rocket circumference).

Satellite must be able to detach its nosecone once it enters space at 70km.

Satellite must orbit within 2 degrees of 90 degrees polar inclination at an altitude around 100km.

(Tip: Target the Mun for an inclination reference point.)

Ok. Now this is getting ridiculous. When upper management said to "think big" that's not what they probably meant. They said they wanted to map the surface of Kerbin to update their maps, but not use such a big satellite for the job. But it was a great test for a new rocket design that feeds fuel form the exterior tanks to the inner tank. The satellite launch was a success and Kerbals can have very detailed maps so they won't get lost on their way home.

SpySat

Launch a rather large camera looking and antenna satellite into a Polar Sun Synchronous orbit

Satellite must contain RCS thrusters and propellant.

Satellite must appear over the same period of ground at noon, every day.

Satellite must have its solar panels (at least two) extractable and retractable by using a Control Group.

Satellite must have a polar orbit of 89.86 degrees(89.8 degrees for this exercise).

(This orbit is best for taking pictures since the timing ensures shadows are eliminated!)

(Tip: Get circular at any altitude above 70km, adjust your polar orbit, and then adjust your sun synch at the poles)

(Tip: Launch about 30 min before noon over KSC, head north)

(Tip: Use the Mun for a target reference orbital plane)

Upper management wants another "weather" satellite sent up there but their orbit parameters are a bit funny. They want it above Koviet territory so it can "monitor the weather" at their launch site. It looks like somebody wants to spy at what the Koviets do. The KSC sent this "weather" satellite into its determined orbit so it can monitor KSC2 (that's how the guys at KSC named it). at an orbit of 455Km.

KerbSat II (aka SpySat II)

(Shssh, don't tell the Kerbiets but this "Weather Satellite" has dual purposes.)

Launch a rather large weather satellite into a Molniya Orbit with period of 1/2 sidereal day.

Satellite must contain RCS (to dodge the occasional missile interceptor) as well as have its own liquid fuel propulsion to change its orbit at will.

Satellite must have a dish antenna and at least two Communotron antennas (one for the meterologists, and one for the government).

Satellite must have at least two retractable solar panels in addition to a set of static solar panels (for extra energy when transmitting with spies).

Satellite must have enough battery power to carry it through Kerbin dark side prior to recharge from sunlight (since spies communicate at night).

Satellite must orbit at any inclination where the apopsis is visible over the target continent.

Satellite must have a periapsis of 75km, and an apoapsis of 2,185.176km to maximize apoapsis "hang" time over target.

Upper management wants another "weather satellite" to monitor weather patterns during night and an extra antenna for government communications. The satellite launch was a success and KSC personnel can monitor "study" long night transmissions from the satellite.

Space Debris

Move KerbSat I into a Graveyard Orbit and designate it as Debris

Orbit must be circularized 50km above Geostationary Orbit.

Satellite must be marked as Debris so it no longer shows up on your Map view.

(Tip: Use the rename ability to do this)

The data that the KerbSat I gathered helped KSC a lot but sadly the satellite's instruments have start failing and the satellite needs replacement. The guys at KSC are designing a new satellite but it may take some time since their top priority is the upcoming Kerbinai program. So they decided to send the satellite into a higher orbit and leave it there until the end of time (or if someone decides to bring it home). (Note i didn't rename it to debris since i have my setting to 0 persistent debris, i just moved the satellite into higher orbit and left it there, didn't take screenshot since it wasn't necessary for such a small task.)

Finishing word

After mastering orbital mechanics for unmanned objects, Kerbal scientists everywhere were itching to find a few brave volunteers to serve as the first Kerbonauts who would be so dedicated to the cause of scientific exploration, that they would be willing to sacrifice their lives for it. This left a number of educated candidates refusing to sign up, but most space scientists agreed that they didn't need them anyways as they would invent ways to control missions completely from the ground. The promise of a flashy new space suit with jet packs intrigued Kerbans everywhere, as no one had them before and there wasn't a whole lot to do on Kerbin. Jebediah Kerban, a mountain skiier and daredevil from Kernacopia, was the first to sign up and participate in the Kerbinai Program.

Campaign: Kerbinai Program

Introduction

Over Kerbin, Kerbal-made stars could be seen gleaming from their orbits upon a treeless world. It didn't matter, because no one on Kerbin had ever seen a tree, so they weren't missed. GeoSat proved the point that there was absolutely no vegetation at all on the planet, except the microscopic green stuff that made the surface what it was. It was also discovered that there were not a whole lot of theme parks to visit, or really anything to do at all on the whole planet of Kerbin, except for which was happening at the Kerbal Space Center.

The Kerbican president announced that he wanted to see a Kerbal on the Mun ahead of the Kerbiets, and to do so before the decade was out. The Kerbal Space Program set its sights on an eventual Mun landing and return, although most scientists doubted the success of such. To get there, much needed to be learned. Volunteers were called up, but most Kerbals were content to be spectators, and viewed the whole space program as a spectator sport. Jedediah Kerbin, a daredevil from Kernicopia, was the only volunteer...for a while. Though after showing off his new spacesuit with jetpack, his very intrigued brothers Bill and Bob would soon join him, and it became apparent to KSP scientists that the whole Jebediah Kerbin family had what it takes to get into space: a pennant for a good bribe, and a lack of education.

This campaign will have you doing you docking with another manned ship before the day is out. Ok, maybe weekend.

Missions

Launch Escape System

Gene Kerbin, the new safety manager at the KSC, requests that you develop a launch escape system for manned spacecraft.

Escape system must be able to pull command module away from a rocket in flight under its own power.

Command module must be able to land safely on the ground from any launch altitude up to 70km.

Escape system must be able to be triggered by the Abort action group, aka Backspace key.

(Escape systems for manned missions are not required though until Gene takes over the KSC after The Kerbinai Program.)

(Tip:Set your abort group to shut down all liquid fueled engines to help with escape launch).

Now that KSC scientists have mastered orbital mechanics they can move to the next step. Continue their manned missions to master various techniques that will help them land on the Mun. But before that there is one small thing they need to attend, Safety First, they need to establish an escape system for the Kerbanauts in case something goes horribly wrong. This new safety system will be tested by a new Kerbanaut, Jedediah "Jeb" Kerman, a rocket enthusiast and also manufacturer and parts supplier for KSC, also he is the one responsible for the new safety system so he is the one to test it. The launch went without a hitch except the fact that control operators were contentiously listening to their radios a loud Yee-haw and other screams of joy from launch to splash down. "Man this pilot is a badass" was the though of mission control. After establishing an orbit of 70km Jeb initiated the safety system and returned to Kerbin for a splashdown west of KSC. Further atmospheric tests proved this safety feature worthy and it will be included in all Kerbinai missions.

Koskhod 2: Alexey Kerbinov, First Spacewalker

Looks like the Kerbiets beat the Kerbicans again... this time it was the first spacewalk. Go out for an EVA once in orbit. Bring him back alive.

While near a 80km orbit, your Kerbal will have to go outside, and eventually let go of the spacecraft, and grab it again and get back inside.

Jets optional.

Return mandatory. You don't want to scare off any of the current volunteers waiting in line for the next missions.

Must land in water or at least on the continent on the other side of Kerbin from the KSC.

(If you haven't already, start naming your spacecraft prior to launch.)

Another major milestone for the Koviet people. Alexey Kerbinov is the first Kerbin to go outside in the cold of space inside his protective suit, let go his capsule for a few seconds thus making him the fastest Kerbal alive. The return of Alexey was celebrated by all Koviets. This blow to the KSC staff came just a few days before Kerbinai 4's mission.

Kerbinai 4: Ed Kerban, First Jet Assisted EVA

This Kerbican used the first jetpack in space...and returned successfully to his spacecraft.

In 80km orbit, have your Kerbal leave your comfy spacecraft and float around the spacecraft. Must complete one circuit around the craft.

EVA must take place entirely on the day side of Kerbin, else you must let your Kerbal drift in space until daylight comes back and he can "see" the ship and try to make it back.

(If you lose your Kerbal because you have run out of jetpack fuel... well... um... your first orbital intercept will be to rescue him using a remotely controlled intercept vehicle.)

A few days later Ed Kerman rushed his spacewalk to show everybody how close and how fast the KSP is running. After a successful launching Ed made his EVA with his jetpack MkI, developed by the guys that made the RCS thrusters, and made a circle around his spacecraft. This new invention will allow easier transportation for the crews at space at at light gravity planets.

ComSat IV

Replace a Defunct Satellite and Designate it as Debris

Launch a new ComSat to replace ComSat I.

The new ComSat must replace ComSat I at ComSat I's originally intended location (directly over KSC).

Designate ComSat I as Debris (so it no longer shows up on your map, or you can choose to end its mission to save cpu resources)

(This mission is a good one to practice your first orbital intercept, assuming your old satellite is where you want your new one to be)

All these new satellites in orbit were too much for the original Comsat I satellite that can't handle all these communications. So KSC decided to launch a new one in order to replace it.The mission was a success and all communications are normal.

Kerbinai: 6 & 7: Orbital Rendezvous

Intercept and Rendezvous a manned ship to within 100m of another manned ship

Both ships must be identical and carry a single Kerbal, for a total of 2 Kerbals at the rendezvous.

No docking ports on either ship.

Must have RCS thrusters with propellant.

With experience comes new technology. Rocket may have a basic SAS module at this point since previous missions may have been "a wee bit wobbly."

You must take a screenshot from inside the cockpit of one ship through the window looking at the other ship, when both ships are less than 100m apart.

(Building orbital intercept vehicles will require a more powerful launch vehicle. Consider your trial by error development as Kerbinai 5. Experiment first before committing Kerbonaughts to an official Kerbinai mission)

(KSC scientists don't think it's possible on the first try, so that's why both ships don't have docking ports. Prove them wrong with a screenshot.)

The next step to conquering the moon is to have an orbital rendezvous. Since this mission is considered by many at KSC impossible Jedediah Kerman and Bill Kerman (a new addition to the KSC roster) set their minds to prove them wrong (actually Jeb is going to do it since Bill is not very happy about traveling to space and finding a target blindly). The mission was a success with a new rocket design in order to facilitate the RCS fuel needed for this mission and Jeb wanted to show off at the KSC mission control and started maneuvering his spacecraft around Bill's at a distance down to 2m.

Kerbinai 8: Neil and the Kerbina Target Vehicle

Launch an unmanned Target Vehicle with docking point into orbit.

Must be unmanned.

Must be powered continuously.

Launch a manned single-Kerbal vehicle with docking port into orbit.

Intercept, Rendezvous, and Dock the manned vehicle with the waiting unmanned vehicle.

Transfer fuel from the Kerbina Target Vehicle to your ship, make sure there is enough for both ships to deorbit.

(After you're done, you are welcome to deorbit the Target Vehicle or end its mission or use it for the Kylab mission.)

Now that Jeb and Bill proved that an orbital rendezvous is possible KSC built a target vehicle so that a capsule with a Kerbal can dock with it. This task fell at Neil Kerman that completed this mission perfectly. After transferring fuel to his spacecraft he tried another maneuver. While docked he fired the engines at the Kerbina vehicle and deorbited both ships while docked. This new maneuver will be beneficial for future missions.

2 Kerbals, 2 Ships, and a Party

Transfer crew with another spaceship in orbit while docked.

Must transfer one Kerbal from one ship with one Kerbal from another. Current game mechanics will require an EVA for both.

Transfer fuel so both ships have equal amounts for the return home.

Future game development will have this mission change to require the Kerbals exchange crew via the docking port, and then go back to the other ship via EVA.

(Tip: Switch between EVAs by using the bracket keys)

(Don't forget to bring four bottles of Fizzy Kerbin Ocean Water with straw caps to celebrate!)

Note: This mission was Kraken heavy. I started the second launch with Bill but i had to end the flight during launch since i was flying this mission during a ferry trip and the ship was docking while in launch. when i started the game i couldn't get Bill again and i started with Alan Kerman. At the end of the mission i forgot to take the mission status since one of the two ships that unlocked and with the chutes opened it ended mid-air. (it was supposed to do do it but i forgot it). Also there was an accident while docking and one of the two ships lost one sepatron.

Finishing word

After the completion of the Kerbinai Program, Robert Kerbin retired to much fanfare, and settled down to write books about the early pioneers of Kerbal Spaceflight who he helped put into space. A new director, Gene Kerbin, arrived to take his place at the Kerbal Space Center.

After the Kerban family reunion which took place in orbit during the program, Gene ordered the Kerbonaught corps to take a well deserved vacation while the space program ramped up its final prepations for a Mun shot. While on vacation, Jebediah took the initiative in his home town of Kernicopia to fund a new start up company: Jebediah Kerman's Junkyard and Spaceship Parts Co. - cobbled together from a number of junkyard parts he had laying around from his daredevil days. Being an insider, her figured he'd be able to score a number of kontracts with the Kerbal Space Program. While he prepared his company, Gene Kerbin stepped up missions to send Probes and Rovers to the Mun.
