How to clean the mess around KSC ?

Recommended Posts

Hi there fellow kerbalnauts,

sorry if this has already been answered, but how do you get rid of the tons of debris lying aroung KSC, such as pieces of failed spaceplanes, destroyed rovers, exploded-on-ignition rockets, and so on ?

I could end flight them one after the other, but it'll take me till the end of the week...

I have no idea how well this works, haven't needed to clear debris up yet, but try building a reasonable, well-controlable plane, then strap sepratrons under it with decouplers. Fly close to the pieces of debris, then fire your sepratrons into it. Hopefully the explosion will ignite your other pieces of debris :-). For the bigger ones, you can use the second-smallest SRB, or simply drop small fuel tanks on top of them.

when you want an all-stock in-game solution, build a bulldozer rover that pushes all pieces of debris onto the launch pad or runway. when you launch the next ship, it will be cleaned up = deleted.

.

It just tends to make far more mess than it cleans up. A bug( or feature:) ) of the physics causes that in a collision always only one of the colliding parts gets destroyed. never both, so you can't reduce debris count that way.

Holy **** I was expecting some solution based around some unknown options, persistent file editing or some sort of debug cheat... But no. No no no. You all suggested that I build more insane stuff to clear the afterfall of my past mistakes with more explosions and destruction.

I love this game. I love you guys.
