United Kerbin Space Agency Mission Reports

The Kingdom of the United Kerbin has a long and storied history. A long succession of monarchs stretches back hundreds of years, some good, some bad. Today, in the modern United Kerbin, the King is still the head of State but the power of governance lies with Parliament and the Prime Minister, and the King remains only as a figurehead. Through the ages the Kingdom rose to become the greatest global power on Kerbin. Through the use of it's mighty navy, the Kingdom of United established colonies in many different foreign regions. These extensive trade routes brought wealth and resources back to the homeland, further accelerating the expansion of the Empire and the Kingdom's power. Through either weapons of force or economics the Kingdom of United Kerbin soon conquered almost all of the known world. "The sun never set's on the Kerbin Empire," was the phase of the day, and rightly so, as the Empire stretched across the world with colonies in every corner of the globe.

The Kindgom of United Kerbin remained the dominate global power for centuries, but the inevitable decline was soon to come. The last century brought two global wars, in which modern machination and technology brought destruction and death tolls unseen in previous conflicts. Although victory came to United Kerbin in both world wars, it took a huge economic toll on the Empire. Stretched thin the Kingdom struggled to maintain the colonies and trade routes that had been the life blood of it power. Changing social attitudes also helped further push the decline of the Empire, with "Imperialism" becoming a dirty word. Eventually bowing to pressure from both inside and outside the Empire, one by one each of the colonies were granted independence and formed new nations of their own.

Though not the global military force it once was, that power had shifted to it's allies across the ocean, the Kingdom still prospered in the post-war years establishing itself as a major financial and economic player on the world stage. The capital became one of the financial centers of the world, but this too would not last. Lax regulations and unchecked greed, at first brought wealth to the Kingdom, but these practices could not be sustained. Across the world banks collapsed, currency were devalued and trillions in wealth was lost. A global economic crisis followed. The coalition government of United Kerbin reacted with crippling austerity measures, aimed at saving the ailing economy. Much of the social services the people had come to rely on were eliminated, or had their funding drastically cut. Despite these efforts the economy continued to shrink, unemployment rose and soon the people had had enough.

New elections outed the former coalition government and saw the newly formed Kerbin Space Party elected to almost all seats of the House of Commons. The Kerbin Space Party, led by newly elected Prime Minister Ronfrey Kerman, campaigned on the sole promise of growing the economy by restoring the Kingdom of United Kerbin to the Empirial power it once was. Only this time the Empire would not be of colonies on Kerbin, but colonies in the stars. With the blessing of King Herbald the VI, and backed by the people, the newly created United Kerbin Space Agency was given limitless funding and charged with the task of colonizing space for the greater glory of the United Kerbin Empire!

Scientist and engineers were recruited from across the country and after a three week mail in course on rocketry, the UKSA was ready to begin their first mission...

The first task of any space agency is, simply put, to get stuff in the air. Not only into the air, but then out of it, out of the atmosphere, into space and into an orbit. To complete this first stepping stone on the way to an empire of space, the rocketeers set about building a satellite to put in orbit around Kerbin and a rocket to take it there. Things were all set to launch when someone pointed out that perhaps they should make this satellite somehow useful, and at the last minute the original payload of consisting of TV antennas duct taped to a pressure cooker, was swapped out for a radar topography array. Though most of the UKSA scientists did not understand how such a device worked, they though it sounded very "scientificie" and agreed to go along with it. This new satellite would scan the surface of the planet with radar waves and create a detailed map of the planet, allowing them to replace their old out of date maps, drawn in crayons on the back of restaurant kids' menus, with new scientifically accurate maps. The mission was, to everyone's surprise, successful.

Not ones, to rest on their laurels, and because there was still 3 hours left in the work day, the UKSA followed up the success of their first mission with the launch of a 2nd mapping satellite, this time targeted at the Mun. Launched in the spirit of "let's just see if we can make it there," this mission was also a success, and at this moment the satellite is hard at work mapping the Munar surface looking for locations to land the first manned Munar mission.

The Munar mapping satellite has completed it's mapping of the surface of the Mun, and revealed some interesting anomalies, that could be worth exploring. A site has been selected for the first Munar Mission, which will land roughly on the equator between these two anomalies.

The UKSA engineers set about building a rocket capable of landing on the Mun and returning. But since they had so many left over parts from the Mapping satellite mission, they ended up creating this, the Kerpollo Rocket and Munar Landing & Exploration System:

A 7 stage rocket with the upper stages comprised of an all in one lander, Mun Buggy and Munar mini base. After landing on the surface of the Mun, the buggy drops out from underneath the lander, and a PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Container acts as a living module for extended Munar stays. When the mission is completed the return ship launches out from the lander to return to Kerbin, leaving the rover and lander behind for use in future mission and as the start of a possible future Munar base.

As Kerpollo 1 sits on the launch pad waiting for launch the crew was nowhere to be found. For this first mission the original plan was to use a team of highly trained gerbils, but Randell Kerman left the cage open after feeding them the night before, so the back up crew of Ronfrey Kerman, Jedrod Kerman & Phillman Kerman had to be used instead. With much less flight training than the gerbils the UKSA was not hopeful of success. Dubbing themselves Kerbanauts, in reference to the country's maritime history, the three brave Kerbins boarded Kerpollo 1 and took off for the Mun.

All was going well, the three Kerbanauts left their earthy bounds and successfully flew to the Mun. After establishing a low Munar orbit they landed only slightly off target but within what Mission Control politely referred to as "an 'acceptable' margin of error," although over the radio the Kerbanauts could hear snickering in the background. Jedrod Kerman was given the honor of being the first Kerbil to set foot upon the Mun, and he even managed to exit the lander without falling off the ladder. Ronfrey Kerman would not prove so capable. A flag was planted to claim this new world in the name of the United Kerbin Empire, and the first step towards a new colony had been taken.

With the flag planting ceremony and photo-op completed, it was now time for the business at hand. The mission of Kerpollo 1 was to explore the two anomalies to the north and south of their landing site. The three Kerbanauts boarded the Mun Buggy to drive south to the first anomaly. They didn't get very far...

With the rover unable to be righted the Mission was brought to an end. The three Kerbanauts once again boarded the ship and took off for home having not explored further than a few hundred meters from the landing site. Launching from the Mun went relatively straight forwardly, expect for the Mini Mun Base Module that was intended to remain on the Mun to be reused on future missions was flipped over by the thrust from the return ship. The return ship reentered the Kerbin atmosphere opened the parachutes and splashed down in the ocean. Mission Control still upset at the loss of the Mun Buggy and Mini Base decided to let the Kerbanauts swim home, and regretted not sending the gerbils in the first place.

Feel bad for the rover tho. Did you hit a bump?

The official investigation is still ongoing but early findings indicate that Jedrod, to put it in technical terms, turned too quickly.

While all of the goals of Kerpollo 1 were not met, invaluable lessons were still learned. If nothing else it proved that the Mun was not made of Gorgonzola, did not have a race of Mole people living just beneath the surface, and that it was in fact possible to land on the surface and return. Confident in this new knowledge, the rocketeers of the UKSA prepared Kerpollo 2 for launch. The basic platform used for Kerpollo 1 was once again used but with a few upgrades. A communications array was added so that Mission Control could keep in touch with the Kerbanauts and chastise them if the misbehaved. The center of gravity of the Mun Buggy was lowered and an S.A.S. module was fitted. And additional lighting was added to the landing craft for better viability at night, and because, well, it looks cooler all lit up.

Only one of the team of highly trained gerbils had been found, and she came back pregnant and was in no state to fly so Mission was once again forced to use Kerbals instead. Jedrod Kerman and Romfrey Kerman were once again used for this mission but only after writing "I will NOT crash the rover" 50 times on a chalkboard. Commanding this mission is Bob Kerman as he was deemed to be much more responsible than the other two. Bob was issued a new bright orange flight suit so there would be no mistaking who was in charge.

The launch of Kerpollo 2 was routine and without incident and the crew successfully established an orbit around Kerbin and then flew to the Mun. Everything seemed to be going by-the-book, until it was realized that Bob had steered Kerpollo 2 into and orbit around the Mun traveling in the opposite direction then was planned. This one small error should not drastically effect the outcome of the mission and Mission Control still has the same level of confidence that the mission will be a success, which is to say they still have only a moderate amount of confidence that the mission will be a success. Kerpollo 2 is currently circling the Mun (the wrong way) at an altitude of about 8,000 meters waiting for daylight to reach the landing site as none of them are licensed to fly at night.

Kerpollo 2 touched down on the Mun and this time a lot closer to the targeted landing zone. Bob, Ronfrey and Jedrod exited the lander and planted the UK flag claiming more territory in the name of the Crown. They then boarded the Mun Buggy and set out west to explore the first anomaly. Having totaled the last buggy, the UKSA's insurance company told them they would only offer them liability only insurance, so the crew was under strict instructions to NOT crash this one. Romfrey and Jedrod had to be dropped from the insurance policy so only Bob Kerman was to be allowed to drive. Despite the redesign this new Buggy proved only marginally more capable, while the S.A.S unit and the lower center of gravity improved things the Buggy started to become unstable at speeds over 8 m/s, especially on downhill terrain. Slowly the Kerbanauts traveled over the Munar landscape until they reached the first anomaly.

Ronfrey Kerman insisted the anomaly was proof that someone else had visited the Mun before them. At this Bob and Jedrod simple laughed as it was clearly nothing more than a curious geological feature. Samples were taken for analysis by UKSA scientists back home, a flag was planted, and the crew once again boarded the Buggy for the drive back to the lander, although not before having some fun jetpacking to the top of the anomaly for a photo opportunity. Arriving back at the lander the crew, still jet lagged from the long flight and a hard day exploring, they retired to the PPD-10 Hitchhiker Storage Container, to continue their explorations the next day.

With the less than stellar speed achieved by the Mun Buggy, Mission Control decided to abort the exploration of the 2nd anomaly site for the Kerpollo 2 mission. Rather than risk another possible Buggy accident attempting to cover the even greater distance to the 2nd anomaly, it was decided to leave the site to be explored by a future mission after the UKSA engineers redesign the Mun Buggy and bring it's performance up to speed. With their one task successfully completed Kerpollo 2 launch out of the Munar Mini Base to return to Kerbin. This time the base remained upright and capable of being reused in the future and the staff of the UKSA broke out the champagne and celebrated their success. They partied well into the night and somewhere in the celebration forgot to arrange to send someone to pick up the three Kerpollo Kerbanauts, which was probably for the best as they would be none too happy to see the state of the ship after Bob's not so perfect landing.

The UKSA is pleased to announce the debut of their new Kerpollo launch system! This new system will launch in coming days in two simultaneous Munar missions, as the UKSA accelerates it's exploration of the Mun. First Kerpollo 3 will launch into Kerbin orbit followed by Kerpollo 4. The two ships will them both fly towards the Mun and land near two different anomalies to be explored.

While the new system follows the same basic design of the first two Kerpollo mission, this new system is in fact a complete ground up redesign with a number of improvements. The landing base of the Mini Mun Base Module has been widened for a more stable launch platform for the return ship, and to accommodate a wider Mun Buggy. The return craft has been reinforced to prevent the fuel tanks falling off upon the parachutes opening, and landing legs have been fitted for softer landing when returning to Kerbin. The UKSA scientists insisted on added a few scientific measuring instruments to gain knowledge about the Mun, and the engineers insisted on adding more dramatic up-lighting to make it look more cool at night.

The Mun Buggy has also been redesigned with a wider wheel base that will hopefully provide more stability, and the number of rover wheels has increased from 4 to 6, the engineers following the long ago proven scientific principal of "more is better." Hey if it's true for ice cream, it must be true for rocketry. For Kerpollo 4 the Buggy has been fitted with new "Buggy-ier" wheels which engineers hope will provide more stability than the previous Buggy wheels. The previous Buggy wheels which performed excellently on the paved roads of Kerbin were found to be unsuited for the Munar surface where the Kerpollos crews were surprised by the lack of paved roads.

The next two Kerpollo missions were put on hold when Mission Control went on a five day vacation to Las Vegas. Since Mission Control did not lose the UKSA budget at the blackjack table, the all new Kerpollo 3 and 4 rockets were able to launch upon their return to the space center. First Kerpollo 3 launch and established an orbit around Kerbin, followed immediately by Kerpollo 4. The Kerpollo 3 crew was made up on Bill Kerman, Bob Kerman, and Commander Jebediah Kerman, the original Kerpollo 1 crw of Ronfrey Kerman, Philman Kerman, and Jedrod Kerman were reunited to command Kerpollo 4. This would be the first simultaneous mission for the UKSA and to prepare the engineers and scientists spend weeks patting their heads while rubbing their tummy, walking while chewing gum, and perhaps most dangerously, texting while driving.

With both ships in Kerbin orbit, first Kerpollo 3 set out for the Mun followed closely by Kerpollo 4. The two ships entered the Mun established and orbit, and circled for days waiting for daylight to reach their landing site. First Kerpollo 3 landed, they did not land as close to their target as planned leaving them a long drive to complete their mission of exploring the Mun anomaly. They planted their flag and boarded the Mun Buggy to set out for the anomaly.

Kerpollo 4 did not make as successful a landing with the first attempt aborted and the second attempt nearly flipping over the landing craft, but the managed to land and close to their target. They to planted their flag and set out aboard their Mun Buggy to explore their anomaly.

The redesigned Mun Buggy for Kerpollo 3 proved to be a marked improvement over the one from previous Kerpollo missions. Stability and speed were much improved, and although there were a few hairy moments were the Buggy got air born, but it always managed to land upright. The crew did have to slow down and take more care for steep downhill grades but the managed to reach the anomaly without problems. Once their they explored the anomaly. Perplexed by the mysterious object, they took scientific samples, planted their flag and did a little jet packing on top of it, before returning to the Kerpollo 3 Mini Mun Base Module.

Meanwhile Kerpollo 4 was heading out for their target. Their rover with the new wheels proved incredibly stable even over the steepest of terrain, but with a slower top speed less traction, and a reduced turning radius and maneuverability. But with only a short drive to reach their anomaly they reached it with no problems. The giant arch was impressive and the team jet packed to the top of it to plant their flag. After much scientific analysis they decided the arch served no purpose and was purely decorative, Jedrod Kerman commented that he had something similar at the bottom of his fish tank.

With both Kerpollo Missions complete the two crews launched their return vessels from the Mini Mun Base Module and returned to Kerbin. Although they launched after Kerpollo 3, Kerpollo 4 overtook them and reach Kerbin first. They opened their chutes and floated down to the surface, but splashed down hard. The crew was fine but the ship broke apart as a result of the impact. Not far behind them was Kerpollo 3 they deployed their chutes and landed spftly on the ground, and Mission Control cheered at finally achieving a successful landing.

With these two missions completed mission controls looks to make further Mun Buggy revisions and to launch the next two Kerpollo Mission.

UKSA is excited to announce the newest revision for the upcoming Kerpollo 5 and Kerpollo 6. Continuing their commitment to explore and colonize the Mun the UKSA engineers have made new (hopefully) improvements to the Mun Buggy for the Kerpollo Platform, with the number of wheels increasing from six to ten and introduced their new Hybrid wheel system. Engineers hope this will combine the speed and maneuverability of the Kerpollo 3 Buggy, with the stability of the Kerpollo 4 Buggy. The Kerpollo 5 Mun Buggy will test the Hybrid system with six Ruggedized wheels and four RoveMax Model 1 wheels, while Kerpollo 6 will test the inverse of this system with six RoveMax Model 1 wheels and four Ruggedized wheels. Other improvements include a slightly longer and slightly wider wheel base, the relocation of batteries for a lower center of gravity, and the addition of landing legs to help right the Buggy in the event of a roll over or flip. Headlights have also been added as through some oversight these were left off of the previous two Kerpollo Buggies. Additionally Rockomax X200-16 Fuel Tanks have been added to the first launch stage to compensate for the additional weight, and a single Rockomax X200-8 Fuel Tank has been added to the Mini Mun Base Module (MMBM).

Kerpollo 5 and 6 are set to launch sometime in the coming days.

This morning Kerpollo 5 piloted by Jebediah Kerman, along with co-pilots Bob Kerman & Herbald Kerman launched into orbit, followed immediately by Kerpollo 6 crewed by the UKSA's newest Kerbanauts Shelby Kerman, Dilhat Kerman & Loald Kerman. Both crafts made a very un-kerbal-like perfect launch. Once both crafts had established a Kerbin orbit the two mission flew to the Mun. Both crafts currently sit in a low Munar orbit of a few thousand meters circling while they prepare to land.

Once landed the two missions will each explore one of the two remain equatorial anomalies.

Both Kerpollo Missions touched down on the Mun and both land further away from their anomalies then was planned. Both ships were just under 20km from their targets leaving them a long drive to test out the new Mun Buggy platform. Immediately it bcame clear their was a small problem. When adding the extra fuel tank to the Mini Mun Base Module the engineers forgot to also add another section of ladder. This caught Jebediah off guard and when he unexpectedly ran out of ladder he tumbled down to the Munar surface. The rest of the crew would learn from his mistake and jetpack down.

Kerpollo 5 planted their flag on the Mun to mark their landing site and then set out, and from the start things did not go well. The Mun Buggy flipped unexpectedly, the cause of the crash is still unknown but Bob and Herbald both recall Jeb say moments before the flip that he was, "totally going to Tokyo Drift the Mun," whatever that means. The lander legs proved helpful as in allowing the Kerbals understrength the buggy in order to flip it back upright. The rover was mostly undamaged only sustaining a broken headlight. The Buggy, now dubbed "Cyclopes" by the Kerpollo 5 crew continued on it's was with Bob Kerman taking over driving duties from Jebediah. All was going smoothly until Bob too flipped the Mun Buggy. The landing legs once again help them right the buggy, and Herbald took over as Jeb and Bob were now banned from driving. Eventually they reached their anomaly and discover another decorative Mun arch. The three jetpacked to the top of the arch planted their flag and stayed to watch the sunset over the Munar Landscape.

The Kerpollo 6 crew planted their flag loaded up in their Mun Buggy and set out for their anomaly. They to experienced the same problems with the buggy and also flipped shortly after setting out. They were able to right it and no damaged was sustained and they were able to continue on their way. Eventually they reached they destination only to discover yet another decorative Mun arch. After some quick jetpacking to the top of it the too planted their flag.

After exploring their anomalies and taking samples the two Kerpollo missions headed back to their Mini Mun Base Modules and both managed to make it back without incident. Thanks to the mission piece of ladder they had to jetpack up to the Command Module and then the two ships launched out from the MMBMs and headed home. Kerpollo 5 arrived first and once again the return ship was damaged after a hard splash down, although the command module and the crew were fine. Kerpollo 6 made a perfect landing a got out to take a picture so they could rub it in the faces of the Kerpollo 5 crew when they got back to the space center.

With two more anomalies explored the UKSA engineers and scientists begin planning the next set of Kerpollo Missions to explore the last three anomalies at the Mun's polar regions.

Also, I have no idea how to do rovers correctly. I don't even really know how to get started in the first place...

Apparently the UKSA has no idea either, but rest assured we are working tirelessly revising the design until we get it right. We assure you that at the United Kerbin Space Agency "safety" is our number three priority. Stay tuned for more mission reports.

Introducing the latest in Mun Buggy designs from the UKSA! Many said it couldn't work, many said it wouldn't work, that you cannot go against the long held Kerbal theory of "Moar is Better," but drastic actions were needed to achieve Mun Buggy Stability and so after much infighting among the UKSA engineers, that included name calling temper tantrums and a small riot in the UKSA commissary, the unprecedented and controversial decision was made to reduce the number of rover wheels instead of increasing it.

Kerpollo 7 will use variant of the Mun Buggy used for the Kerpollo 4 mission, the most sucessful Mun Buggy to date, featuring 6 RoveMax Model 1 wheels but incorporating it in to the slightly longer and wider wheel base design introduced for Kerpollo 5 and 6. Perhaps even more shockingly the Mun Buggies for Kerpollo 8 and 9 have been reduced all the way down to 4 wheels. The two missions will try out the newest hybrid wheel designs with Kerpollo 8 featuring Ruggedized wheel is the front and RoveMax Model 1s in the rear, and Kerpollo 9 will use the opposite setup. All three rovers have also been fitted with RCS tanks and thrusters to help push down the Buggy should it become airborne or begin to flip.

Kepollo 7, 8 & 9 will launch in the UKSA's largest and most ambitious mission to date. The three ships will all launch to the in one large simultaneous mission to explore the remaining three anomalies. (Oh and we also fixed the oversight with the ladders and added a few more parachutes)

Kerpollo 7 with it's crew of Bob Kerman Jebediah Kerman & Bill Kerman, Kerpollo 8 crewed by Ronfrey Kerman, Jedrod Kerman & Philman Kerman, and Kerpollo 9 crewed by Shelby Kerman, Dilhat Kerman & Herbald Kerman, all launched into Kerbin orbit, flew to the Mun and expertly landed on the Munar surface. Kerpollo 8 made an especially impressive landing, touching down within a kilometer of the target anomaly, and the closest landing to a target to date. With their flags planted the three crews boarded their Buggies and headed out on their mission to explore the remaining Munar anomalies. At this point communication with Mission Control went dark, while mission control upgraded their operating system to v0.21...

When the v0.21 upgrade was complete and communication with the Kerpollo Missions reestablished, it was discovered that when Kerpollo 7 parked their Buggy near their anomaly they had stopped on a steep embankment on the precipice of a large deep hole. The hill side proved too steep for the Buggy to drive back up and it began slowly slipping towards the hole. Bob, Bill & Jeb had to abandon their Buggy and jet pack away from the cliff. As the Buggy tumbled down into the hole they were able to catch a glimpse of the anomaly. A black monolith similar to the one discovered by Kerpollo 3 was mysteriously floating above this deep hole. With the Buggy destroyed and in pieces at the bottom of the hole, the Kerpollo 7 crew jetpacked back to the MMBM. Mission Control decided they would just write off the cost of the Buggy and not report it to their insurance company to avoid further rate increases.

On the opposite pole Kerpollo 9 was experiencing similar problems. Their satellite scanning revealed the anomaly was in the vicinity of another deep hole. They drove their Buggy all around the hole exploring for the anomaly. The upgrade to the new v0.21 software had a dramatic effect on controlling the Buggy giving more control over the buggy, should it begin to flip the crew could easily regain control before it rolled over and crashed. They were able to quickly traverse even the toughest terrain and even getting the Buggy airborne on a few occasions. In the end they were not able to find any anomalies so they planted their flag to mark the vicinity near it to mark it for possible future explorations and returned to the MMBM.

With Kerpollo 7 now without a Mun Buggy and Kerpollo 9 with no anomaly to explore, the two crews headed back for Kerbin. Kerpollo 7 landed softly, but despite two additional parachutes Kerpollo 9 was not so lucky, landing down hard and destroying their fuel tank and landing legs.

Meanwhile Kerpollo 8 was busy exploring their anomaly. Their Buggy design with the Ruggedized wheels in the front and RoveMax Model 1s in the rear proved to be somewhat difficult to handle with the rear of the buggy trying to slide out. Still thanks to their excellent landing they did not have far to drive to reach their anomaly. As they came over the hill the Buggy's headlights revealed a strange round metallic object. Ronfrey Kerman, Jedrod Kerman & Philman Kerman examined the object closely but when they determined it could in no way aid them in space travel they planted their flag and headed for home.

This brings to a close the Kerpollo series of missions. With the Mun explored the UKSA now looks ahead to establishing a permanent Munar settlement, and future missions to make the necessary accomplishments towards that goal.

Once again, you have come up with some great mission reports! Will you be continuing the reports for the Munar base in this thread? Also, is there any chance you could put the ship which you use to get to the Mun up for download? It looks good and I wouldn't mind trying it out. :)

Thank you for your interest in the UKSA and the Kerpollo series of missions. The UKSA remains committed to the exploration and colonization of the Kerbol system. While there are still a number of milestones that need to be achieved in order to gain the technical abilities to build a permanent Munar conlony, this thread will follow those stepping stones as well as all future UKSA missions, and this thread will continue to publish all future UKSA press releases and mission reports for the Mun and beyond.

As for the craft files they are linked below. I've removed the ISA SatMap GPS Unit so the craft files contain only stock parts. A few notes on operating the MMBM & the return vehicle; upon landing shut down all four radially mounted engines, then when you are ready to launch the return ship set you throttle no more than 50% and then activate the next stage. Once the return ship is away you can throttle up to 100%. Press 1 to toggle communication dishes and antenna and scientific instruments.

Before establishing permanent settlements out in space, first we must gain an understanding long term exposure to a low or zero gravity environment. To this effect the UKSA has launch it's latest mission the Kerbin Researcher of Advanced Science on Habitation station. The KRASH Station it self is composed of a central core that holds two habitation areas, as well as two observation posts, and four radially mounted docking ports. Attached to this the Communications module to keep in contact with mission control, and the Science Module fitted with all sorts of science measuring devices and which houses an area to conduct zero gravity research. The Science Module also contains a third habitation area. Also off the station core are the two station arms, containing one senior docking port and two inline docking ports each, and contains fuel for refueling docked space craft. Attached to each arm are two solar booms to house the solar arrays that power the station, and also contain an additional smaller supply of fuel, as well as two docking ports and and one senior docking port each.

The entire station has the capacity to house 18 Kerbanauts, and hold 15600 units of fuel, 17600 units of oxidizer, and 6100 units of monopropellant, with 14 regular sized docking ports, and 6 senior docking ports.

The KRASH Station was launched as nine individual sections and assembled piece by piece in orbit 350km above Kerbin. 12 Kerbanauts man the station where they will live for an indefinite period of time to study the effects of extended stays in a zero gravity environment, knowledge that will be crucial for future deep space missions beyond Kerbin and her moons.
