To Eeloo and back.

Here is my minimalist challenge entry for Eeloo. I didn't even try to do this in one take, as this was nearly as difficult as a Moho mission. This is a 14 part series. I tried to keep each segment to 10 minutes or less, but there are a couple of longer segments. I used the Dynamic Warp mod to decrease game speed to 1/2 warp to try and improve video quality, then, using windows movie maker, speed it back up to normal speed.

Part 1 : Load up Calmon and establish a 120kmx120km circular orbit around Kerbin. Figuring out how to get Calmon in the seat is a challenge in of itself.

Part 2 : Setting up the transfer window with Kerbal Alarm Clock and alexmon's Launch Window Planner.

Part 3 : Using MJ2's maneuver editor to find an Eeloo encounter.

Part 4 : Execution of transfer burn to Eeloo.

Part 5 : Fine tuning the Eeloo approach.

Part 6 : Warp to Eeloo soi.

Part 7 : Perform capture burn, set inclination to zero( In preparation for return, seems to be less deltaV if performed now), and circularize orbit. Had some lag in this one.

Part 8 : Land, plant flag, and return to orbit. I originally tried to split this up, but it seems that Eeloo is quite buggy. If you try to exit to space center and come back later, strange crap happens(see T-shirt). My lander blew up several times after I had landed. Had to do it all in one take. Also, it is a bit of a challenge to dock with a piece of debris with no rcs.

Part 9 : Planning return to Kerbin. I was unable to get a solution from alexmon's launch planner for my return. I am still not sure what went wrong but since I felt I had enough delta-v, I exited Eeloo's soi first and then used MJ2 to figure a Hohman transfer.

Part 10 : Execution of transfer burn to Kerbin. I lost my return node somehow(don't remember now how) and had to do it again. Sorry for repeat.

Part 11 : Fine tune Kerbin approach. I got a little lost here, but all's well that ends well.

Part 12 : Setting up Kerbin periapsis for aero-braking.

Part 13 : Aero-braking maneuvers. I explored the possibility of landing back at KSC, but failed. At this point, I just wanted to land and bring this to an end, as I had been working on this for 3 weeks in my spare time.

Part 14 : Finally! Calmon makes it back safe and sound. It's astounding how kerbals can live in space strapped to a recliner for years.
