Great, GREAT Thanks for all the feedback, this is truly an amazing community (well, amazing game so community as to be on par :) )

Please check out my KSP modification (link in signature), if you would like an example input/output API for KSP.

Thanks, and congratulations, awesome mod ! We have a specific custom protocol to interface with our server application running on the PC, so not sure it can help, surely the way you pull out all those infos from KSP is very interesting .

The idea is neat, and could pave the way for a "touchscreen gamepad" that interfaces with PC over Bluetooth, USB, or even Wi-Fi. Good luck and Go Crazy!

Exactly what we are aiming at + Keyboard and Midi in/out, all over bluetooth or wifi (according to which is available). And an sdk to send custom data to the application on device. (KSP example : speed displayed on iPad).

Have setted up a new layout for KSP (way more dense ....) here it is : (with abort button :))

All feedback about what to display is more than welcomed, we have some limitations due to universality of the layouts but a lot is doable.

Before posting this thread we contacted Squad, and we will provide an "official" default KSP layout together with the application (app will come with biggest applications layouts, photoshop, maya, final cut etc..)

so all suggestions about what to put and where .....

A totally different layout will be made for mobile phone screens (less items ? smaller, different etc..) so suggestions are welcomed for that too...

I'm not 100% sure this is your intent, but the nav ball for sure. And different screens for lateral and vertical speed would be great.

We are working to have a general way of configuring gauges and more complex elements as the NavNall for all possible uses (example Car game analog speedometer, submarine depth etc... ), but it will come with the first update of the application. With release version our main target are "pro" applications, first update will bring instead a whole lot of game related features we have been working on in the last period.

So about the NavBall, we are working on a way to have it, but it will not be in first version of application.

If I may make a suggestion, you might consider adding a "stage lock" control (default is mod-L). Accidentally hitting the stage control at the wrong time is a annoyingly common problem.

Hum you are more than right. We had thought about this and , in CCP you can configure a safe button that will work only with either a "double tap" or a "long press" (user configurable). So in principle this should help for this situation.

What do you think about this ?

That will work. User configurable is always good as well.

Fast Beta Update :

We had a great response from the community about the Beta program, great thanks to all that applied for the program, unfortunately, Apple has shut down (working on it due to the hacker attack of last week) their developer portal, so we CAN'T add your devices to beta program until they put the site back up..... All application will be considered , just that we can't say for sure when you will receive your custom beta build....

By the way, new KSP version ROCKS !!!!!

Curious question, any chance it cod be used to say I dunno display mech Jeb windows so they don't clutter the screen?

Absolutely ! In principle each Mod can send the data it wants to CCP running on the mobile device, the plugin we are releasing for Kerbal has that as a main function (plus it sends speed, height and other basic data), but it's made in such a way that every mod can communicate with it.

And, you can have many different layouts for 1 application or game, so for example you could have a "KSP controls layout" and a "KSP data layout", swiping on the screen will shift layout (so that you have a full screen of controls and another full screen of data, or more...)

Extreme customization could bring to a layout for docking, 1 for atmosphere flights, another for data, etc...

This is possibly too complex to implement but being able to pull up the map view and place maneuver nodes on the iPad would be INCREDIBLE. Even if you couldn't edit nodes, just being able to see the map and the ship views at the same time would be very useful.

That's a very interesting idea but i think that would be hard to implement and would likely bork unity

wonderful idea ! We are developing a public SDK to allow "advanced" comunications between a PC game or application and CCP application on mobile device, such a thing as orbital map displaying would surely be complex but our goal is to make something like that possible. Surely, somebody will have to put some effort in doing that, we will see.

Android version is among top priorities, only thing holding it from first release is that we are still defining some more "advanced" features for customisation which will not make it in version 1.0, so we are already planning / working on a major 1.1 update bringing Android support, and a a huge extension to the public SDK (allowing among others features as proposed by the user i answered above).

In the meantime Apple has re-activated it's developer portal so expect beta builds to ship in the next few days

In the little LCD panel in top left of screen we are experimenting with more advanced "data" sending. The arrows will cycle trough "Vessel" "Orbit" "Body" informations.

Will soon post a video with a sample fligth and plugin configuration.
