[0.25]KSP Interstellar (Magnetic Nozzles, ISRU Revamp) Version 0.13

I'm finding that my cockpit falls straight through my reactors on the launch pad. Anyone else have this issue?

Wave is working on it, there is an experimental version you can try. Delete every bit of your old Interstellar version and replace with this:

@Buckshoot & @Adalast

You need to install WaveFunctionP's recompiled experimental version. Just look in his/her sig at the top of this page (assuming you have 10 post/page).

Completely off-topic, but how do you display more posts/page? I thought I combed through all the settings and couldn't find this anywhere.

Top of the forum in the header. Click the drop down menu titled "Forum Actions" then click "General Settings".

On the new page about 1/3 the way down you'll see the section "Thread Display Options". In that section there is a dropdown called "Number of Posts to Show Per Page". Change the dropdown to whatever figure suits you best, then hit save at the bottom of the page.

Why every time I go to the village view does it tell me there is an update to the tech tree? Last time I pressed install update (a while ago, then I reinstalled and it stopped happening, but recently started again in a new game) it messed up my game. Is there a way to get rid of this popup? Why is it even here when I am using the newest version (Wavefunctions).

I assume you are using some sort of other mod for resources. (I see kethane, which you failed to mention. :P) Check that you do not have multiple versions of openresourcesystem's .dll file.

Also, check that all of your mods are compatible with the current version. Especially if you've tweaked those fuel tanks to hold a different fuel type than stock.

Loaded the latest version of all the mods, no luck. I also checked for that openresourcesystem.dll and only found one in the whole system. I have no clue what is wrong at this point.

Didn't know this even came out. Thanks.

That's because it is prerelease and not ready.

Even the latest version of a particular mod may not be compatible with the latest ksp version. Post your output.log in your data directory.

Tested with all mods removed and only interstellar only to have the same results. Couldn't even leave the launchpad. Got the log you wanted though:

http://pastebin.com/5urbm7VJ

Also I might add, thank you for taking the time to help with this. I know you are busy working on this mod and I couldn't thank you enough for all the effort you are putting into this.

I need you to show a log with the ship active. You should see errors.

Thanks for keeping this mod alive wavefunction! Just had a few issues with precoolers, they show as being online however the engines are sometimes well over 1700 degrees and other times -300,000 degrees, it seems to vary if i detach the engine\precooler and reattach in the VAB. Is anyone else having issues with precoolers?

If you could post the exact details needed to replicate your issue that would be appreciated. :)

Sure. I simply have a ram air intake->precooler->SABREs engine. Not sure what else to say really?

They quickly raise in temperature until beyond 1700 and then either hover at around 2000 or suddenly drop to well beyond the freezing point of matter :P (-200,000 or thereabouts)

EDIT

One other thing I should have added is that I have yet to have the engine overheat and explode, but I do get the burning noise that the DRE mod does when a part is overheating

I'm having a problem with the thermal engines (both types, all sizes.) I've checked and its occurring in both 32 and 64bit versions of a clean install with only Interstellar and updated modulemanager (2.2.0)

I'm trying to recreate Scott Manley's "Explorer" plane from his Interstellar Quest Episode 10. When I go to put the engine on the animations are constantly running, and if I take it to the runway there’s no sound or staging for the engine. (I can manually activate the engine however.)

If I do try to take off, even at 20% thrust limit, the plane quickly (about 3 seconds real life) exceeds 3886.88 m/s and explodes do to excessive g-force causing structural failure between the radial radiator and one of the other components attached to it.

If I pulse the throttle to keep the speed in the 1000 m/s range the plane itself fly's just fine.

Here's a picture of the rocket and thermal jet showing the graphic part of the problem.

Seems that the exploding is being caused by the radial radiator. its the first component to fail, and the error seems to start when that part is attached.

edit #2

Well . . . nope. still explodes without the radial radiator. Although the error didn't appear in the SPH this time around.

Seems that the exploding is being caused by the radial radiator. its the first component to fail, and the error seems to start when that part is attached.

edit #2

Well . . . nope. still explodes without the radial radiator. Although the error didn't appear in the SPH this time around.

The version posted in the OP is not compatible with 0.24.2. The version in my sig is the only working version that I know of right now.

Thanks for keeping this mod alive wavefunction! Just had a few issues with precoolers, they show as being online however the engines are sometimes well over 1700 degrees and other tiimes -300,000 degrees, it seems to vary if i detach the engine\precooler and reattach in the VAB. Is anyone else having issues with precoolers?

I was having some issues with them. Chain was air intake to precooler to engine, and the precooler absolutely refused to function as anything but an intake until I closed the intakes on the precooler, at which point it started behaving as expected. Opening the intake on the precooler while in high speed flight would cause an almost instant and catastrophic overheating. It was behaving as if having the intakes on the precooler opened was bypassing the cooling mechanism in exchange for higher intake performance...which is a cool behavior if intended, but should default to cooling mode if you ask me, since its called a precooler and all.

Here's what's going on there: The precooler is coded to affect only intakes that are stack-attached to it. It doesn't check whether an intake module exists on the same part as the precooler. The precooler is active and affecting the stack-attached intake even when its own intakes are open, but any unprotected intakes that open on the ship will dominate the heating effect.

So the practical effect is what you described, even if it may not have been planned that way: the intakes on the precooler act as a bypass for use at low airspeed. I would personally still have it start with the uncooled intake open, because starting on the runway at zero speed is exactly when you would want to have the extra intake open.

Ah ok, that's strange but thanks for that. In no situation would I want to be using the precoolers as intakes anyway because the ram intakes provide adequate air flow on their own. From now on I will just turn the intakes on the precoolers off and see how I go. Thanks again for the info!

This is not the problem here. All my intakes are stacked to the precooler and the precooler was not doing a thing. When I used to use them they just worked (and didnt randomly cool an engine to the hundreds of thousands -ve degrees), but if what nightdagger says is true then manually switching them can be used as a work around for now.

I need you to show a log with the ship active. You should see errors.

http://pastebin.com/8FYckbRC

Don't see too many error's honestly

If you want to take a look personally here is my save folder:

https://www.dropbox.com/sh/u99iilbwt0zuwmm/AAAKGs_k6wQwvvoZuOZ2ztJMa

Mods in place are:

KAS (latest)

Kethane (latest)

Interstellar (latest experimental patch)

Procedural Fairings (latest)

MechJeb2 (latest)

RemoteTech2 (Parts folder only since it's broken)
