RocktCo Industries & The Munar Institute of Technology are proud to present!.

The Soyuz ship and munar kerbabl lander V1.2 for 0.16+

web.jpg

RELEASE NOTES:

It`s recomended to use this parts only with themselves due to a

config downscaling to 10% of the all the standard values (weight,

maxthrust, fuelconsumption), to improve stability.

CHANGELOG V1.2:

-Fixed a bug in the parachute, now it deploys properly.

-Changed the 5th stage tank for a one with less fuel (orange 150).

-tweaked the decoupler values to work properly in v 0.16.

-Changed crew capacity to 1 seat.

-Added EVA capabilities (functional Capsule Hatch and Ladder)

Thanks!

I finally picked up modelling myself, in part because i saw you and others make parts all the time. Seeing this pack, I see i\'ve got a long way to go still..

I don\'t think you\'d have to say that 'can\'t be used' with other parts, though. Just say something like 'underpowered' compared to others, or something along those lines.

These parts are the best parts i\'ve seen so far, by the way. Gorgeous work.

edit: The way the vernier engines gimbal - amazing. Wow. I am speechless.

my jaw just keeps dropping from this pack. Amazing.

Out of curiousity, what prevented you from using normal values?

also, how long did the textures take, and how did you do them?

Can we have some more info on the models? I assume all stages work proper? What parts are there?

everything works. Just download and check the pdf.

It has:

-the booster liquid engine

-the booster liquid tank

-the booster decoupler

-the central core engine

-the central core tank

-the 2nd stage decoupler

-the 2nd stage engine

-the 2nd stage fuel tank

-a 3rd stage decoupler

and then of course the amazing lander with it\'s orbital engine, fuel tank, decoupler, landing engine, landing fuel tanks, landing legs, ASAS module ( the first with the correct size! ), the capsule decoupler, the amazing looking capsule and a very very nice parachute.

All I can say is, download it. The textures and modelling are by far the best yet. The vernier engines on all the liquid engine stages move, and it just looks amazing.

*list of stuff*

That\'s cool. Thanks. :)

The point is so that people don\'t have to download, install the bits and run KSP to find out exactly what they\'re getting. It takes me half an hour every time I want to play the game. Most times I lose interest in playing while waiting to play.

Just a little more information in the OP would be really appreciated. :)

In a word: Stunning

In several words , this is one of the most detailed and visually appealing packs ive seen. Ive had a few goes with it now in several configurations to recreate the different missions of the old Russian space agency. You should be immensely proud of your work , and I must admit , if this is what we get from the Soyuz and the lander , what on Kerbin is the Kliper going to look like =P

Out of curiosity and nothing else , I too would like to know why the standard values weren\'t used. Arent they possible?

hmm...perhaps upload the PDF on this site as an easy download?

it\'s only 629kb. Could be embedded with the first post. ( I also just saw I am credited! Thank you! )

again, however, download this pack. it is the best ever.

I assume the PDF has full images and stats on everything? I guess that means I don\'t need to play to see.

Personally - and I know this is a small thing - I don\'t think one should have to download anything specifically to see what they\'re going to download. Use the OP. I know myself I am less inclined to look if the author hasn\'t just shown me everything he wants me to see right away.

Basically, 'show me your awesome stuff without me having to do anything!'

I am just a lazy consumer. Advertise to me.

Thanks So much for your comments! loved your pics on the mun! my brother and i are so glad you people liked this pack, its been a lot of work. =)

Out of curiousity, what prevented you from using normal values?

Feanor, Sirscott; the problem is that, with normal values, the rocket started to shake and bank so hard due to the weight of the fuel tanks, the maxthrust of the engines and the gimballing feature, so i scaled down everything and it worked. i think i will be using this again for the big rockets.

how long did the textures take, and how did you do them?

well it took almost a week of modelling, another for UVs and texturing, and another for testing. and how.. practice, but i always use almost the same details and stuff for my textures so, the best advise i can give is to have a personal file, a .PNG built of the details you most like, like bolts, warning signs, seams, etc. this would make the texture process a bit more easy; always do an ambient oclussion pass, this add a lot of volume to the part; and of course cgtextures.com or a good camera. thats it, =)

Nova: dont worry man, all-purpose parts are too much parts to work with, and from the begining you have been making those, so those are yours =)

This pack is lots of fun!

Once I realized that I had to ride out the first and second stage at about 50% throttle to avoid wasting my fuel against aero drag, I was able to get to orbit pretty easily. I blew out the 3rd stage engine due to overheating after about 70% of the TMI burn, but made it up with the lander stage.

After that, cruise to apomune, and did a direct de-orbit burn since I wasn\'t sure how much fuel the lander still had (turns out quite a bit!). Powered descent and snapped this on the surface of the big crater:

Actually, kind of a big step for Kerbal.

GGPsD.png

Got into Munar orbit on the ascent stage trivially, TKI at 800 m/s. Left the Mun SOI, correction burn, and decided to try and land back at KSC. I got myself into a 500 x 670 orbit around Kerbin and did my de-orbit from there. Ran out of fuel *just* before I wanted and overshot into the sea, but just off the coast.

All in all a successful mission with a well-balanced rocket! I was able to do the whole mission despite wasting 25% of the third stage when I blew the engine, so it might be able to throw a *bit* more mass to the Mun (or cut the fuel a bit to make it even more challenging).

Of course, the fact that the parts are beautiful made the whole trip enjoyable. Thanks for the pack!

welllll.....The thing is, this rocket is optimized for normal Soyuz staging.

That means, the boosters and the 2nd stage start at the same time. The boosters burn out, are decoupled and the center keeps burning. That way, you\'ll get into orbit waaaayyyy easier, and you don\'t need to throttle that much. I just throttled to 80% or so when overheating became appereant, and had beautifull gravity turn towards an apogee of 70km.

Love this, glad you finished it Deus. Though I did ignore your warning about compatibility. I\'ve been having fun lobbing probodobodyne satellites underneath nova\'s payload shrouds on this rocket. Works well, not thrust starved at all imo. TBH I think this pack and nova\'s 'feel' quite similar in terms of overall power to weight ratios. Is making this pack compatible with novas part values possible?

Also :D
