How to group the stage numbers in VAB? (assembly?)

I am building some escape pods for my space station, and it just adds, in the staging section, in VAB, 20000000000 numbers, so i can no more see all the stages because every single thruster of every escape pod i did has an indipendent staging icon for everything: parachute, separator, thrusters

there are just too many icons, is there a way to group them? as it is now it's just crazy and unpractical

Drag and drop will shuffle icons around between stage numbers. If you have many many stage numbers there's no way to organize them for visual compactness.

Considering these are escape pods you might want to collapse them down into parallel stages. If you have 10 escape pods with 3 stages, put all the similar stages together. Once the craft separates the other pods will drop out. You can always reconfigure staging in space.

Using symmetry groups icons together. If you add the parts individually, it won't. Other than that, you can scroll through the staging list using the mouse wheel.

I hope they'll make regrouping available.. it's a pain as it is

I think they will be grouped after a reload - at least sometimes when I first build an outer stage and then reattach it using symmetry I end up with e.g. a single booster and a staple of three in the stage - when I load the craft later all for are in one staple.
