rbray, I was talking with asmi (who wrote a new render for Orbiter with truly amazing graphics...) and he mentioned this site:

http://www-evasion.inrialpes.fr/Membres/Eric.Bruneton/

It even has sample GLSL code. Looks like it would be very useful to you, especially since the techdemos were done on a GeForce 8800 (!) not anything more modern.

I'm not sure that's possible with EVE ATM. Right now the only shape available is a sphere. That might be possible with Kittopia Tools. :)

It is indeed possible with KittopiaTech.

Here is one of my early tests with Moho ablation effects/Eeloo comet effects/sun flares:

Javascript is disabled. View full album

Combined with a cloud layer or two and better textures, this could look very nice.

I noticed that at night city lights appear in the middle of the ocean. I'm on .24. Maybe I just wasn't paying attention so don't know if it happened in 23.5.

Noticed that too, and couldn't find an answer in the thread. Is this something we have to live with, or is it fixable?

Until I polish off the version I'm working on, it will have to suffice I'm afraid.

But it's not an accident nor a bug...

Sorry if this has been answered before, but I installed this and it worked fine. Then, after installing Planet Factory, all the clouds, etc. on the stock planets disappeared. Removing Planet Factory made everything go back to normal. Any ideas?

Same here. Worked fine before .24

I've followed all the directions to install this but the clouds look like one of those stereoscopic pictures that you need the polorized classes to look at

LBHWRbG.png

I'm playing on 24.2, Linux 64 bit version.

I've tried the different texture packs incase I needed to use a lower quality but they all do it.

I assume you installed a texture pack? If not, make sure that you don't have an old install sitting alongside a new one.

When I crashed the craft, the cloud layer started to follow the camera in map view. It rotates when the camera goes over the poles. It does not rotate around the poles, however.

I assume that last one is pretty easy to deal with, but without access to configuration GUI I can't say for sure. I might look into the config file itself.

Also there's the atmospheric scattering overlaying water. It makes water look transparent on the horizon. And being above a cloud layer completely hides water.

Update: So I've looked around with the cfg and found that a lot of things are new, and some things are missing. I've experimented with some stuff, but the results were problematic. I really hope you can get this to work again. I'm glad you took a bold approach with all these new things though. :)

It happens the same thing to me, just I have installed thesonicgalaxy's texture pack, and either with low res or high res EVE I have this problem. I am running the game in the 32 bit version, on Win 7.

But I have to say that without his texture pack lights and clouds work fine. thesonicgalaxy didn't answer to me, could you tell me what I did wrong? Thank you.

Ah, yeah I'm working on the oceans right now. The Oceans use the depth buffer to check the water depth, and then the atmosphere also uses it. However, the ocean can't write to the depth buffer, so the atmosphere uses the value from the terrain. Looking into adding spherical detection to the shader. So far, so good.

OK. So it should be fixed in the "nightly" release. OH, and the new gui keypress is CTRL+E at least for now. If you haven't seen the new GUI, I really think you'll like it. It's procedurally generated, so no more minor typos or errors resulting in un-set items.

So this is how the pack mimics the look of shadows and multiple layers. It will end up being more seamless in future releases.

Does this work with 0.24.x and Texture Replacer? I notice it still says 0.23.5 in the OP.

It should, but I haven't released any explicit binaries for it.

Great to hear! In the version I have, it is Alt+E. And I now see what you did with the GUI, really nice.

I'd like to test out the new nightly, where can I get it?

Also I think you should change

_Color = 0.41796875, 0.8046875, 1, 1

_Visibility = .00002

to

_Color = 0.41796875, 0.7046875, 1, 1

_Visibility = .00001

Just preference though.

Update: _Visibility = .00002 was actually ok.

Just trying some new textures.

I think the biggest thing that i want to see in the mod besides dynamic weather, and more weather stations, are JUST space clouds (also 3D if possible) and to have the particle effect of the clouds to be extended.

The thing is that it seems bad when i am just on top of the clouds and instead of getting a "top gun moment" the fact that 5 km away the clouds are just a color layer breaks the inmersion.

Hi. I had RSS/RO and the Overhaul mentioned in the above post #3547 installed and now I have a problem:

The cloud texture doesn't seem to be displayed when in map view, and some sort of atmosphere effect suddenly disappears at a certain moment during a rocket's ascent to orbit when in normal view.

Something I found in output_log.txt, which i think is suspicious:

UnityException: Texture 'BoulderCo/Atmosphere/Textures/kerbin1' is not readable, the texture memory can not be accessed from scripts. You can make the texture readable in the Texture Import Settings.

though the callstack seems to be related to the volume cloud effect...

Hello!

Apologies if this was already answered (I did my best to dig through posts and search for it, but it doesn't seem conclusive). Is the mod compatible with x64? I've tried the 7-3 version and the clouds do not show up in x64. I also tried the x64 overhaul link that was posted, and this too was without success. I've stripped out my mods to test this (save Planet Factory) to make sure it wasn't something else. If there's any testing or logs I can do/pull for this, please let me know. I'm happy to help. :)
